I like it. The first thing I did was to look at the scrollbar of my browser and thought that the article was way too long, that there was no way I would be reading that, but I gave it a chance. Then I read till the end. It expressed a lot of my thoughs, good one.

very good. Send it to anyone who labels us "far-right" or "ultra-conservative"

congratulations, and job well done!

that said, I recommend one small change...

Doug Carkuff [send him mail] lives in the southern tier of central NY, and has worked as an analytical chemist and researcher for a pharmaceutical company for 25 years. Has a 17-year-old son of whom he is very proud. Doug dreams of owning 40 acres and a mule, or two (maybe, stubborn bastards).

Thanks for your comments guys. I submitted it and Lew thought it was worth running. Rereading, yeah, it was a little long winded. And, yeah, I wouldn't mind having a mule. I think they are cool animals.

Very good. I wish more people would be able to read it beyond the libertarian community.

Nice column, Billy. Lew is pretty picky about his blog selections so consider the publication a compliment.

Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that you mustered up the guts and knocked the door down, but don't let that bastard stiff you on the tip.

You and me both.
