YouTube - Is Taxation Moral? (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VoIjEa4Cf-c&feature=player_embedded)

It's a bit hard to hear at first, but it gets better towards the end.

Some voluntaryists confront some sort of government official, and question him as to why they're being forced to give up their property. After questioning him for a bit, 1 of the men pays his taxes while his friend reads a speech he wrote to the employees collecting the money.

This is some fresh and interesting activism, imho. I'm taking notes.

Thanks for sharing. I have been wondering how voluntaryist are applying the taxes are theft line to life. Its good to see this type of activity, people actually living what they believe.

Also, I appreciate more than anything what the Marine said at the end of the video. He is going to quit his job as a govt' contractor because he believes taking money from taxpayers is immoral.

My plan with my corp is to take that one step further and to do everything in my power to not solicit debt notes in exchange for my products and service. I think simply transacting in these debt notes represents another type of "theft" to use similar terms. Its more like fraud, but I think the term theft is more applicable to the monetary system, or systematized embezzlement.

Anyways, nice to see this recorded and shared with the community.

I love the idea behind this video, and the fact that there's an active campaign to spread Voluntaryist ideas, but that sleazy politician's doublethink and obfuscations just make it too frustrating to endure the whole video.

I think those guys are doing a great thing. Exposing the gun in the room is the most powerful thing a freedom lover can do.

What is it that we're waiting for? :)

I'm sure we'll all recognize it when it shows up. :)

Jesus said: "Pay the tax". Watch and listen to this video. It will melt your heart.

You should check out the video in the OP. It's pretty good. :)

Here's a radio interview with the guy paying his property tax in the video. YouTube - Speaking of Liberty... On Free Talk Live (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vw8zi_6wIg)

I would, but I've already seen the same thing done by Ian Freeman from Free Talk Live, so I get the gist.

That was also awesome. I want to see dozens of these videos. I might make one myself at tax time.

Excellent ideas for activism confront the people working for the criminal cartel and tell them about the gun in the room scenario and question do we really OWN our property when we have to pay taxes on it and if we refuse we get shot or thrown into a prison and they take our property. Education is a must in the USA people just go along to get along untill people start doing civil disobedience or everyone gets educated well at least we can slowly move in tiny increments towards liberty.

hey Clay, just really wanted to say thank you for digging up this video and posting it here. This is the type of thing I have asked for in many discussions on the forums about taxes etc etc.

The value of this type of action is beyond any words or philosophy IMO. I want to see more of this type of activism coming from all "factions" of the freedom movement.

Excellent example. Thank you.

Exposing the gun in the room is an effective tactic because most people view government as a necessary chore - not a monopoly that forces you to do things through violence.

Statist violence always escalates until the violence is visible.
Slavery continues until the humanity of the slaves becomes visible.
Aggression against women and children will continue until the humanity of women and children becomes visible.

Statist violence always escalates until the violence is visible. If you keep pointing out the gun, it will be lowered. ~ Stefan Molyneux

I know a lot of people here don't like Stefan Molyneux, but he has a wonderful knack for distilling things down to their essence.

That quote is from the attached video. I recommend you watch it all the way through, but if you want to jump right to the point go to 21:00

YouTube - True News 46: Health Care Part 1 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nt0tKl0J-S4)

Not to blow my own horn, at least no more than usual, I blogged on this topic a while back (http://pucksmith.blogspot.com/2009/07/gun-in-room.html) and now I see if you do a google search for "the gun in the room" it shows up on the first page of results. :)

Stefan calls it tantamount to throwing talcum powder on the Invisible Man.
