PRESS RELEASE

On Thursday, June 24th, Chris Rye & Corey Kealiher's critically acclaimed documentary film For Liberty: How the Ron Paul Revolution Watered the Withered Tree of Liberty will air state-wide in Wisconsin on PBS. Tune in at 9:00pm CST for their 30 minute appearance on Director's Cut where they discuss the film with host Charles Monroe-Kane. Immediately following the interview, the film will start at 9:30pm CST and run for 110 minutes.

For Liberty was released in September 2009 on 16:9 widescreen DVD and has since been screened in theaters and venues in over 30 states, and probably more we don't know of. It's being screened at the Melbourne Film Society in Australia in the coming months and has been shown in a number of other countries around the world.

About Director's Cut

Director's Cut is a new studio-based television series produced by WPT (WI-PBS) and hosted by Charles Monroe-Kane. This series features Wisconsin filmmakers and provides a venue to discuss and screen independent film. Each 30-minute episode provides an opportunity for guest artists to discuss the creative process and screen clips from their completed projects or works in progress.

DailyPaul Post (http://www.dailypaul.com/node/120578)

In our home state of WI, our PBS produces an original show called "Director's Cut" (http://www.wpt.org/directorscut/) which features WI fimmakers - the show is wildly popular and difficult to get on. Very happy to report our film has been accepted by the show, and will feature in-studio interview clips of Corey and I intercut with film clips and discussion. Then the full film will air twice state-wide. The host of the show is a young guy who's parents were RP supporters so there should be kind and lively discussion. A lot of people here in WI are going to see the film.

The show has great ratings. We're going to Madison to shoot the interview early January. Pretty exciting news!

We're going for national PBS next, also The Documentary Channel, IFC, etc.

GREAT!!!

Contact Dallas/Fort Worth's PBS station. It's a huge market and one of the best funded PBS stations in the country. Their call-a-thons used to be great.

Just finished the WPBS interview at their studios in Madison. Went great!! They picked really good clips which were intercut with the interview. Really good Q's and discussion. Show will kick off their new 2010 season of Director's Cut in early spring. Not sure of the dates yet but will post when we find out.

The 30 min interview will be re-running throughout the year, and the main 2 hour film will air twice, once following the season opener and another time later in the year. Pretty awesome.

I hope you're right and they put the interview on the web.

We don't have anything like that here, which I found odd, because we have about 8 PBS stations here.

This has been proposed before and no one has run with it. Do it. We will be more than happy to give broadcast permission if needed, but people need to set it up in their own states by contacting their PBS channel. This link seems to find your local channel by ISP http://www.pbs.org/stationfinder/

You can check out trailers and excerpts at the site. We haven't "officially" posted it online in its entirety yet, but that may change soon.

Nice opinion piece by Virginia Right.

In what may be a irony in that I and many other libertarians (including certainly Ron Paul) would defund PBS, a documentary about the 2008 campaign that changed America will be broadcast on Wisconsin Public Television Thursday June 24 at 9 or 930pm CDT. (Thanks to For Liberty (http://www.forlibertymovie.com/blog/archives/646) for this info) I wish I were in the Badger State for that broadcast! This is a great honor for this film as it was selected from a number of documentaries submitted.

These emails are some of the feedback we’ve received from Wisconsin Public Television (http://www.wpt.org/directorscut/304_kealiher_rye.cfm) after they aired For Liberty the evening of June 24th.

“Dear WPT, I have enjoyed so many of your programs. Including both Directors’ Cuts programs! I just finished watching the Ron Paul program and was moved. Thank you so much for providing the forum that presents programs like this!! Keep up the great work!”

“It’s 6/24 – Director’s Cut – For Liberty: The Ron Paul Revolution. It was a very good show. Interviewing the producers and Ron Paul will be back or at least his ideas.”

“I just watched Director’s Cut on June 24. I really, really appreciate that program being on, about the Ron Paul revolution. No place else would I see programming like this. And that was super. It should be seen over and over. Thank you so much! I appreciate all your programming.”

“A quick note to thank you for airing the documentary on Ron Paul. Thank you and I am sure it will reach many of your audience that will see Dr. Paul in a different light than he was portrayed during the 08 campaign season.”

“To Whom It May Concern, I would just like to thank you for broadcasting the documentary For Liberty: How The Ron Paul Revolution Watered The Withered Tree Of Liberty on Saturday night. It was nice to see you supporting Wisconsin film makers and giving a little known, but incredibly well produced and researched documentary a greater audience. I’m not an avid television viewer, but when you air quality documentaries like For Liberty that get ignored by the mainstream media, you can be sure I will tune in and support Wisconsin Public Television. Thank you again for airing For Liberty On Wisconsin Public Television.”

“I just got done watching the Ron Paul movie on WHA and I loved it! Thanks for showing it and please show it again and again. Yours in restoring liberty in America.”

“We watched Director’s Cut, For Liberty; How The Ron Paul Revolution Watered The Withered Tree of Liberty last night (6-24-10) and would sincerely wish to thank you for this program. You have done more to water the “tree of liberty” tonight than all of the other networks have done in years. Thank you so much. The program was very well done, but the message of freedom that was conveyed by this film is eternally sought after. Thank you again, and I hope that this particular film will be played again & again.”
