This is a 100% guaranteed way to raise 12 million dollars by the end of November. And frankly, I think it is the only way the goal will be met.

I have been told that among our 50,000 Meetup members only about 5,000 are active. It is on these 5,000 making a simple commitment that everything depends.

Commitment 1: I will donate a minimum of $10 per week for the rest of the quarter (those who have maxxed out are exempt)

Commitment 2: I will find one person each week who has not yet taken this commitment, to make make commitments 1 and 2.

Available targets: the other 45,000 meetup members, family, friends, neighbors and as a last resort, knocking on doors.

I don't think these goals are not doable, I think they are very doable.

Results:

Week 1 $50,000
Week 2 $100,000
Week 3 $200,000
Week 4 $400,000
Week 5 $800,000
Week 6 $1,600,000
Week 7 $3,200,000
Week 8 $6,400,000
Total $12,750,000

Now: if we do this and continue that thru the quarter? Well, let's just say in the 12th week we raise close to $100 million in that week alone.

I accept my own commitment, and will report here next week. Anyone else?

This one might be a little better
Week 01: $0.5 million
Week 02: $0.5 million
Week 03: $0.5 million
Week 04: $0.6 million
Week 05: $0.7 million
Week 06: $0.8 million
Week 07: $0.9 million
Week 08: $1 million
Week 09: $1.25 million
Week 10: $1.5 million
Week 11: $1.75 million
Week 12: $2 million

I say that because 6 million is a lot to collect in a week. This way we're pacing ourselves with achievable goals but also bringing in enough money so people don't get discouraged or bored with the challenge. I think we should try to get 500,000 by Saturday too.

I don't think you read my post.

Look at HOW I get to the 6 million in one week. The commitments and following thru on them are KEY.

6 million in one week is unattainable.

6 million in one week is unattainable.

Dammit read the entire post, don't just look at the numbers!

If you read the post and if the commitments are attainable, then the numbers are attainable! If the commitments are unattainable then say so, but don't just looks at 6 million in one week and say "Holy shit, this guy is crazy".

I wish I hadn't even included the numbers, tell me if the two commitments are attainable or not in your opinion.

on its own, we need 120,000 $100 dollar donations on avg. Widget is coming to life with the PR!

You're assuming perfect success on commitment 2. That's just like chain letter money making schemes.

I agree. There's no guarantee on commitments.

Agreed, the numbers assume 100% return on the commitment 2. If you mark that as a 40-50%, or some other adjustment, then you'll likely see a more realistic (or attainable) number.
