Traficant Declares: I'm Going to Run

Dec. 30, 2009 7:02 a.m.
By Dan O'Brien

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Former U.S. Rep. James A. Traficant Jr. revved himself up in typical fashion, then eased off as he spoke for 30 minutes before quietly telling a new business networking group last night that he will indeed make a bid for Congress in 2010.

Alright go Traficant. Anyone who wants to end the CIA, FBI, and IRS is someone we should support.

Isn't it kind of late to throw in for 2010 though?

I would vote for him if I lived in his district.

Hes running as an independent so he doesn't have to worry about a stupid primary. I'm not sure how well-known he is in his own district though.

I'm from his district. I think I saw an unscientific poll a couple weeks ago that had him winning in the district hah. He is a very well known guy, he doesn't have to worry about name recognition at all.

In 2002, he ran for congress as an independent, FROM PRISON, and still got around 20% if I'm not mistake.

I never could figure out exactly WHY Trafficant went to prison. Anyone have any particulars, cause it all sounded fuzzy to me. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he got railroaded on trumped up charges.

Anyway, good for him. The more Independents are in Congress, the more likely something will really change.

Apparently he hasn't yet decided which district to run in.
