View Full Version : Fascism in Calyfornia

I live in Socal and visited family & friends in nocal over xmas. I learned some interesting things, and my conclusion is that CA is in a fascist police state that is getting worse all the time. Some of what I learned:

1. About every 20 miles up the 5, there is a lit up sign that the government installed that says "IF YOU SEE A DRUNK DRIVER CALL 911". I'm not "pro" drunk driving, but that has got to be one of the most useless things to promote to people who are driving. In fact, the lit up sign often caused slow downs on the freeway!

2. My friend works at a company and sells to the federal government. He said it's a total joke, there is no actual bidding, and everything is just a formality! It's the opposite of business.

3. My friend's wife works in Silicon Valley and is at an "Environmental Energy" company. Apparently, that's one of the only areas that is growing right now, BECAUSE of the stimulus funds! The way it works is, the federal government gives city governments stimulus funds over the course of several years, and forces them to invest in "green energy" companies. So this whole industry is a fraud, built on stolen money, and completely directed by central planners in DC! This is outright communism!

4. CA roads and freeways are a disaster, particularly in L.A. The freeways are bumpy and there is construction everywhere. There is traffic all the time and not nearly enough lanes. And people think the government should be in charge of roads? Ha!

5. Bridge tolls in the bay area are up to $4. Ugg.

6. I saw more cops on this trip than I have ever. Lots of speed traps and people getting pulled over. This is the kind of absolute bullshit that happens when we allow ourselves to be ruled over by morons.

I'm pretty disgusted by what's happening. Everyone in a sense is going to be working for the government soon. And it's not going to be a socialist paradise, it's going to be a socialist wasteland.

Time to throw off these shackles and start disobeying and living free!

I live in San Diego and while there are many things here I do not like, these same things are in many other states as well and I am sick and tired of people stereotyping "California"

I passed thru Riverside/San Bernardino area 2 weeks ago on the way out to a job.

I think it was the 215 freeway.

They had a few miles of construction going on, and a big sign that said
" American Recovery and Reinvestment Act ".

They had the right lane closed, and it looked like they were messing with the supports on a couple off ramps. But the majority of the work... planting palm trees, laying cobble stone and cutting cute little bird and hill designs into the concrete work on the over passes and retaining walls

I agree. We are not the government! Our gov't sucks but I like the people and atmosphere here better than any other state, including traditional New Hampshire.

Yeah all those things are true. You also forgot that taxes are insanely high. On the plus side we have:

1. Good weather

2. Entertainment mecca

3. Great tech industry

4. Beautiful women

Like anything else it's a tradeoff... but I like it here. And I've lived in many many states.

I used to live there and many other places as well. forgive me if I sound rude but the majority of people in Cal SUCK. they are socailist greenie POS and if they aren't, they go along with it anyway so they don't get left out of a promotion or a party invite.

I do agree the weather is nice and the Government is disgusting

i live in san diego, and was just on the highway last night and noticed those huge signs "report drunk drivers"

I was like, are they really trying to villify drunk drivers that much now? Its those people and 'amber alerts' you'd think they just rose out of hell or something.

ugh. we're going to have to provide fingerprints and background checks for buying bullets and you're bitching about the cost of the bay bridge?

And it's "NorCal" not "Nocal".

Haha, I like "nocal", and I grew up there!

And, I'm bitching about all of the above!

And the kicker is that these are privately held companies, so we the people can't even buy stock in these firms, but the big bankers can and do.

There's one of those in the highway right near my house. I wish I could find a sticker of the mock logo - with the sickle and the money pit - to put up over the real one.

Hmmm - I bet I could print one, laminate it, and then just go out with a can of aerosol carpet adhesive.....hmmmmm

A friend of mine lived in LA for a year, and when he came back he had transformed into a fucking snob, SOB.

Someone should let them know that those signs telling you to call 9-1-1 to report a drunk driver are encouraging people to talk on their cellphones while driving, a known "risk"!

There are more democrats in SD than Republicans, it's not "right wing", it's just more apathetic than liberal bastions like SF or LA.

The point is it's not a "neocon town", nor is it a socialist one. But the local government is highly socialist, and the bottom line is we don't want to be liberal or conservative, we just want gov't off our backs completely.
