How do the "Small Government" but "Pro Military" RINOs justify supporting this:

http://www.noradsanta.org/en/index.html

For more than 50 years, NORAD and its predecessor, the Continental Air Defense Command (CONAD) have tracked Santa’s Christmas Eve flight.

The tradition began in 1955 after a Colorado Springs-based Sears Roebuck & Co. advertisement for children to call Santa misprinted the telephone number. Instead of reaching Santa, the phone number put kids through to the CONAD Commander-in-Chief's operations "hotline." The Director of Operations at the time, Colonel Harry Shoup, had his staff check the radar for indications of Santa making his way south from the North Pole. Children who called were given updates on his location, and a tradition was born.

In 1958, the governments of Canada and the United States created a bi-national air defense command for North America called the North American Aerospace Defense Command, also known as NORAD, which then took on the tradition of tracking Santa.

Since that time, NORAD men, women, family and friends have selflessly volunteered their time to personally respond to Christmas Eve phone calls and emails from children. In addition, we now track Santa using the internet. Last year, millions of people who wanted to know Santa's whereabouts visited the NORAD Tracks Santa website.

Finally, media from all over the world rely on NORAD as a trusted source to provide Christmas Eve updates on Santa's journey.

If you justifiably argue that this is a waste of OUR money you may be interpreted as "Anti Military/Defense".

If you justifiably argue that this is an expansion of government you will be treated as "anti troops" as well.

If you support this crap then how can you call yourself a "Small Government" supporter?

How do the Fox News Junkies get away with this conflict of ideals?

Thats why Libertarians never get anywhere. They simply can't stop bashing the programs that voters actually like.

Which is why nobody ever votes for them.

And as if I ned further proof that they're freaking ideological idiots -

The NORAD Tracks Santa website is a non-profit organization funded solely through corporate donations, and is fully staffed by an all-volunteer crew who love children, Christmas, and honor the memory of Colonel Harry Shoup, (Retired) USAF, who by serendipity in 1955, became NORAD’s very first Santa Tracker.

I'm all for the government wasting money. That's a lot better than doing the positively evil things with that money that it would do if it weren't wasting it.

Yeah, you take your utilitarian ways and see how that works. We oppose those things that most voters like based on MORALITY and JUSTICE (There are still some utilitarians, and even in that way we have the upperhand also. Mises was a utilitarian, where as Rothbard was the natural rights approach. We are right on both accounts, but the natural rights based is by far the most just and best). We are abolitionists. We don't care if its popular or not. Continue politicking, thinking you are educating, but are perpetuating the same status-quo you abhorr. Become an abolitionist it is a very liberating experience.

End SS. End Medicare. End all ABC departments. End Medicaid. End SCHIP. End the MIC. End Standing Armies. End Taxation. End regulated trade (GATT, NAFTA, CAFTA, etc.). Get out of the UN. Get out of NATO. End all foreign aid. End all regulations.

We need to keep an eye on Santa so he doesn't give presents to terrorist children.

Oh, and also for his own safety, of course.

The camel's nose is a metaphor for a situation where permitting some small undesirable situation will allow gradual and unavoidable worsening. A typical usage is this, from U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater in 1958:

This bill and the foregoing remarks of the majority remind me of an old Arabian proverb: "If the camel once gets his nose in the tent, his body will soon follow." If adopted, the legislation will mark the inception of aid, supervision, and ultimately control of education in this country by the federal authorities.[1]

Gee...let's allow this small, innocent program. Gosh...the government just wants to entertain the kids.

Didn't Friedman say thank God for wasting taxpayer money because if it was efficiently used we would all have been slaves long ago?
