I rent, but it would be cool to see some more activism along these lines :). I think most of us have a problem with property taxes -- people could adjust their speech to match the primary reasons for their objections -- constitutional, moral, or otherwise.

We need tax protests on every level. Make it more expensive to collect the tax than to obtain it.

Yeah, that was FTL_Ian paying his property taxes, he's also a freestater. Last year, he paid in all ones but it kinda held up the line and pissed others off. He does live in Keene afterall which is NH's Ann Arbor.

Pissed people off?
Boo fuckity hoo, they should be pissed at paying the tax, not standing in line to pay it.

He should have loaded up a pickup truck with sacks of pennies.

That was us in the SD liberty contingent!
The funny part was that guy in the suit is the tax collector, and tried to make us look bad by asking the question to everyone else in the room if they thought it was "ok if these guys get away with not paying taxes", and to his surprise, there was a random woman there who was angry and spoke up and called taxes theft!!

If you have a tax bill, pay in 1's, ask questions, and capture as much as you can on video!

Yeah, but you'd need a pallet jack to get them in the door.:p

OK Danke, let's see your professional tax protest video :)

And given the amount of time since the last good tax protest in this country, I'd say we're all amateurs. Maybe if we practice we can be pros to lead the sheeple when they come around.

Henry David Thoreau was a tax protester. Irwin Schiff is a tax protester. Paying your taxes in small increments is not a protest.

This is for paying property taxes, Ian doesn't pay Fed incomes taxes. And, if Ian didn't pay the prop taxes in small increments, there would be no footage of this and you wouldn't have heard about it. Kudos to you if you're not paying income taxes though.:)

Ok, fair enough. It's a protest about taxes.

It's sure as heck better than nothing. Are you involved in some form of tax protest?

We specifically protested the tax collector via words. It is a protest, and it's getting the word out there that taxes=theft, and bureaucrats like the suited one in the video don't think stealing is immoral.

I don't know if you got this, but the idea is that we all move to one area and get active so as to be more effective at achieving liberty.

The idea is not that the activists achieve a completely free state, then the rest of us grab our Bermuda shorts and head on up after the fact.

:p

Also, the first one was in san diego.

It is great to see that Ian Freeman of Keene is good ideas that are spreading, even to folks outside of New Hampshire. Hopefully, more people do things like this. I just rent so this isn't an option for me right now.

While I don't always agree with Ian on everything, there is no denying that he actually does a great deal of activism. He even inspires others to do stuff.

Thank you Ian for doing this. Thank you Free Talk Live listener in Cali for doing this. Thank you Rebel for promoting this.

Ours was in San Diego. Ian wants everyone to move to buttcold traditional New Hampshire, but we've got a relatively large liberty contingent right here in SD, where the weather is perfect most of the year, and the women are too! :)

Seriously, the advantage of CA is the mentality of it's people. The government is of course far beyond any kind of repair, totally socialist. But people move to CA for the lifestyle, a new beginning, and an excited change to their life- not because they like socialism. So my point is we have just as good a chance of making an impact here as they do in icy NH!

I agree that the liberty contingent in Cali will make a difference but keep in mind that the population in San Diego County alone is over 3 million, well over 2 and a half times more than the entire state of NH. Not trying to be a wet blanket but while NH is cold 5 months a year, we also have the FSP which is giving us more activists every week. And, we don't have an illegal immigration problem creating more democratic voters.

Liberty, until the Ron Paul Revolution, had been stagnant across the country. The productive capacity of the FSP is bringing liberty lovers together like never before and we have results that are beginning to show it. In another year or two, my case will be made. Cali, I'm afraid, is a sinking vessel for liberty at the state level. The taxes are outrageous and gun rights are nonexistent. If we bring the liberty contingent together in a small populated state like NH which is considered the most free already, we will truly have a free state in our lifetimes.

BTW, the chicks we have up here are pretty fine too, check out Hampton Beach in the summer and you'll see what I mean.;)

No, the state is called New Hampshire and it's considered the most free state in the country by the Mercatus center. The Free State Project is a movement of liberty lovers to NH to make it even freer. It's quite simplistic to think that the FSP will snap its fingers and create a truly free state. Moving people to one state doesn't happen overnight. Out of any state in the country, only NH is seeing an influx of liberty loving activists all the while the NH population has been shrinking.
