Sounds pretty good, even promising, but I'd like some more details.

So far so good. Friend of Liberty? I hope so.

http://allenwestforcongress.com/issues

"To stimulate our economy we must realize that Keynesian tax and spend economic theory does not work. The public sector shall never grow the economy, that comes from the private sector. When I hear our new President speak of building an economy from the bottom up, well, you just have to cringe...."

...."And our current administration issues proclamations about not calling the enemy, “enemy combatants”, and willingly releasing them to return to the battlefield. It is an administration willing to send your taxpayer dollars to Hamas, not to our defense budget. This administration is projecting weakness, not resolve, at a critical time.

What we need on Capitol Hill are Congressmen, Representatives, who understand this enemy and how to defeat it. Those who realize that it requires a holistic approach to reduce the sphere of influence this enemy seeks to establish. We must have members who having served on the ground and comprehend how to craft strategic objectives which support tactical goals, and successes.

We must get away from occupation warfare and nation building and execute precision strike operations aimed at denying the terrorist enemy sanctuary. We must cut off their funding, manpower, and logistical support from their state sponsors. And that means finding their financial resources and freezing them. We must win the information war and defeat this enemy on the websites which proliferate hate against the US and western civilization."

EDIT: This might be a reason to watch (*gag) Fox -from West's site:
Breaking News! Allen West to be interviewed by Laura Ingraham on Thur. Dec 17th
It might give a good indication of how West rolls.

You quoted him yourself...

"...We must cut off their funding, manpower, and logistical support from their state sponsors. And that means finding their financial resources and freezing them. We must win the information war and defeat this enemy on the websites which proliferate hate against the US and western civilization."

And how exactly would we do that? Have the government gain more control of the web?

Prior to that in his national defense stance he said:

"I served in our Nation’s Army for 22 years active duty service and in three combat zones. I can attest that this is the vilest and most determined enemy we have seen in our Republic’s existence. We face a radical Islamic ideology that is uncompromising and intolerant in prosecuting its objectives, totalitarian and imperialistic global domination. This is manifested in Islamic terrorist organizations funded and maintained by state sponsors who are enacting proxy war worldwide.

If you do not believe me, then listen to them."

Bush anyone?

"We also face threats from a resurging Russia who is seeking to again expand its reach into our hemisphere. North Korea is extorting the Pacific region through nuclear threat holding hostage in order for its Stalin like regime to survive. China is defeating us economically and using their gains and profits to build a dominating naval force. We cannot forget the socialist dictator to our south, Hugo Chavez in Venezuela who is fomenting unrest throughout South and Central America. And do not discount the drug lords and their militias in Mexico who are exploiting our unsecured borders."

Also take a look at his section on Israel. It's quite telling.

Thanks for steering me straight. :)

West has got a mixed message going there. Maybe he could borrow Rudy's reading list.

I largely like what I see but there are a few problems:

http://allenwestforcongress.com/issues/ (http://allenwestforcongress.com/issues/)
First and foremost he doesn't want to abolish the income tax. In fact he wants to keep income taxes, just make them a bit lower. That is absurd even though might be Constitutional. The income tax is one of the points of the Communist Manifesto; it should be completely abolished, not simply reduced. The income tax is a direct tax upon property and the fact that an income exists fundamentally means we do not have the right to own property because we must give our share of it to the government when we receive it.

Also his rhetoric regarding foreign affairs is a bit disturbing; I'm not sure if it's passionate or hawkish. He discusses how our country has enemies around the world, but he doesn't understand (or explain) how they came to be enemies of the United States. Principally the fact that our federal government has been creating contempt against the US around the world due to it's fickle, inconsistent, imperialistic, elitist, bullish policies towards other nations. That is unfortunate but it's why we have been the subject of terrorist attacks - our government keeps hitting at bee hives on other continents and the People of the US keep getting stung as a result.

Granted this guy would be better than 99% of the current members in Congress, but before I could support him he would have to change his policy on taxation, and clarify his rhetoric on foreign policy a bit.

The question, as always, is if we have an honest man, for if we have an honest man, surely we can use him.

The question, as always, is if we have an honest man, for if we have an honest man, surely we can use him.Yes but being honestly ignorant is not any better in my opinion. Watching this guy speak I am willing to bet that Mr. West is an honest individual who wants what's best. But reading his website I have to wonder how much thought was put into his platform, and how well he understands the Constitution and ideas of limited government.

West was told that, if he did not step aside, it could cost the foundation up to $200,000 in donations. West consented and agreed not to participate in the event.
