This is a piece from a paper i am writing on healthcare.

Our healthcare system is not a market system. It is more of a corporatist system. This system, simply put, is when government and corporations corporate together usually for the profit of the corporation, and for the profits of the politicians who were (usually) bribed into creating such a system. The ideology of socialism is that you take from the rich and give to the poor by use of the government. Corporatism on the other hand is that in reverse. The government uses their power to sway the power of the market (invisible hand) in favor of the powerful corporations. This is the economic system used in fascism. Both Capitalist and Socialist should be against this system.

Socialism is not necessarily "taking from the rich and giving to the poor." It is government control and/or ownership of the means of production.

Socialism is not necessarily "taking from the rich and giving to the poor." It is government control and/or ownership of the means of production.

"From each according to his ability, to each according to his need" has been a popular socialist slogan. Modern corporatism treats this socialist idea a little differently. The rich and powerful have greater needs than the average citizens, therefore the government is used to take the wealth from the little people and prevent them from becoming financially independent.

Interesting Wiki article. The phrase may also find an earlier origin in the New Testament.
