'NH and NY at least have closed their primaries and Oct 12 is the deadline to be a registered Republican eligible to vote in the primary.

You remember how the Texas GOP straw poll went down? Only past delegates were eligible to cast a vote. For some reason, even tho the party is shrinking, they are battening down the hatches to keep new folks out. So get in while you can and visit your local Board of Elections or public library and change your registration!

Even if your state is open primary, you never know when they will change the rules and what those rules will be.

Of course someone posted a reply to that video saying that in California a "decline to state" voter can request a Republican ballot...:eek: What is with people?! Intentional sabotage?

In California, as it is in many states, you must register as a Republican to vote for Ron Paul in the Primary. And the deadlines for that registration are very soon. No time to procrastinate.

Just to make it simple:

Register today as a Republican to vote for Ron Paul in the Primary!

You can ignore that if you are a certified expert on your State rules, you are up to date on your State rules, and you know for sure that they will not change those State rules before the Primary...

NY hasn't changed anything. It has always, at least as long as I can remember anyway, had a closed primary.

As such, I submitted my form to change party affiliation from unaffiliated to Republican as soon as Ron Paul threw his hat into the ring. I received a post card a couple of weeks later informing me that according to NY law party affiliation cannot be changed until after the next general election.

For some reason, in NY, the powers that be require voter registration forms to be submitted 25 days before the election at which action is desired. Therefor a change of party affiliation submission is required by October 12th.

A person registering to vote for the first time in NY has until January 10th, I believe, to submit their registration.
