Dear Fellow Libertarian/Fan of Freedom,

The strength of our movement is deafening to the powers which fear our ability to fund candidates and help them get elected.

This year alone, we helped to make viable the campaigns of Peter Schiff and Rand Paul. Our donations are helping them to be competitive as they fight for our constitutional rights.

Now, another candidate deserves your consideration - Bruce Poliquin, who is running for Governor of Maine.

Bruce Poliquin stands for limited government, and for giving citizens more control over the size and reach of their state beaurocracy. He demonstrated this during the past few months by helping to fund the Taxpayer Bill of Rights movement in Maine that requires the voters to approve increases in state spending or taxes. No other candidate for Governor except Poliquin committed his own personal money to help our movement.

Bruce Poliquin believes that the best government is the smallest government. When we help elect him, he will audit and reduce the size of one of the most bloated state governments in the United States. He will fight for the voice of the people. He will be one of us!

Just as we helped Peter Schiff, Rand Paul, and his father before him, we need to help Bruce Poliquin win! The best way to do that is to donate $25, $50, or even $750 (the limit) before Christmas.

Visit his website www.BruceForMe.com to learn more about Bruce Poliquin, candidate for Maine Governor. Don't delay your contribution to another deserving candidate who will help reshape our great country!

Respectfully,

Robert Newman

Thanks for the info. I'm not sure I like this guy though.

"I’ve served on the boards of a number of non-profit organizations. One is the Natural Resources Council of Maine, the largest environmental advocate in the State." The NRC ain't good.

His other businesses are asset management and real estate development. He went to prep school and Harvard.
Not great. Seems like a RINO / Country Club Republican. I'm not attacking him, or saying he's terrible. I'm also not a great fan of Otten, either, who is on TV already with ads. Peter Mills is the worst of the bunch.

I think I like LePage, current Waterville mayor and General Manager of Marden's, at this point, but I'm not really that informed yet on the various Republican candidates.

Here are some Paul LePage links:

One man's answers just stood out over the rest, as did the applause and the occasional chuckle from the room; Mayor Paul LePage. While the other 4 spoke about the government needing to create more jobs, Mayor LePage answered with, “The government does not create jobs, unless its creating more government jobs.”

Why? Well, from what I have read in many conservative circles, he is considered a “true believer” in conservatism, and in Republican politics, there is a large number of people who feel like Republicanism has failed because it is indistinguishable from the left. To these people, the most important thing is an ideologue who is willing to go to the mat for conservative principles, even when it might not necessarily be advantageous for them to do so.

I see NRA on there.
Wood Products Manufacturing Association on there.

I think Maine needs a little bit more of a forestry minded person, and a little bit less environmentally minded person.
I don't think we need to depopulate the north woods, Aroostook, Washington Counties.
Both Poliquin and LePage are from Waterville, but I think LePage is more of a Congressional District 2 type of a guy, and the others are more CD #1 types. I prefer CD #2 types.

Update - the tea party candidate Paul LePage did win yesterday. Shockingly, in a 7 man race, he crushed his competition 38-17-15-13-10-5-3.
The tea party appears to be mighty in Maine.

He did. I was more than a little surprised by LePages turn out. I did not see the GOTV organization with LePage that I saw on Rands campaign It was largely word of mouth. Seeing LePage a couple of times I had a good/neutral impression of him.

I was able to talk with him about the 'No Sheriff Left Behind' program. He had not heard about it but he was vocal in his support for state soverignty and that he was a big believer in the proper roll of a Co. Sheriff. I pressed him about negating federal funding for local law enforcement agencies and he admitted it was a problem. Im going to get him a copy of Mack's book.

Incidentally I heard a couple of people from the local C4L chapter giving him a hard time about gay rights and he said 'That's not what I'm going there for'

Couldn't say if that was to advocate for or against.
