Former New Mexico Governor and potential 2012 presidential candidate Gary Johnson has unveiled his own official website today at http://www.OurAmericaInitiative.com (http://www.OurAmericaInitiative.com) to speak out on issues of the day, particularly cutting government spending, auditing the Federal Reserve, ending the Drug War, and stopping the health care takeover.

I'm sorry but he needs to stop pronouncing bin Laden as bin "Loud-en". Maybe it's a New Mexico thing I'm not aware of but it makes him look out of touch (@:50)

Wow, his book cover is incredibly bland, I hope that's not what the final copy will look like.

were the videoclips directed by the Spacehappy Phil Thomas Katt?

No clue who Thomas Katt is, but those videos are rather strange. Why didn't he just show himself giving a real speech in front of real students?

I'm glad to see he's got a good production team at his side.

His videos are done exactly how Ron Paul should've done his in 2008, in my opinion. They are produced almost like movie trailers.

Gary is really good but he isn't as libertarian as RP. For instance IIRC he still supports the income tax and doesn't want to legalize any drugs besides marijuana. Also his only solution to health care is tort reform. The issue is vastly more complex than that, HMO's and the FDA should both be scaled back or repealed. Does Gary support these measures?

RP would still be my first choice for 2012, but Gary would be my second.

Grimnir, that was epic, thank you.

Gary Johnson needs to make some big changes quick. This stuff reminds me to much of Dr. Paul's "He's catchin' on, I'm tellin' ya!" commercials.

I'm sorry, but these videos are in a whole other league than the RP one your describing, in terms of production and marketing.

He seems nervous. He needs to do more with his hands and speak more charismatically.

I don't see why people are talking shit on the guy. The most libertarian Governor EVER, but we are bashing him for not supporting a full end of income tax. Seriously is that how critical we have become of others trying to help us fight for issues.

OH, but Michele Bachmann is great so is Glenn Beck, even though Gary Johnson endorsed Ron Paul over McCain and did not endorse Bush in 2004 because of the Iraq war

But more about this great freedom fighter Glenn Beck (who insinuated we were terrorists)please?

It's a matter of people asking for one thing and rewarding the opposite. It's been found that the more vague a candidate is about their issue stance, the more likely they are to get a wider approval. We ask for specific issue stances and may agree with 90% of those stances, but if the stances are specific enough, you will focus on that 10% and not vote for the guy.

He'd be better off running on Hope and Change, with no specifics. That's what wins elections. Because even when you have a proven libertarian voting record while governor but you get specific about all of the issues, even libertarians will turn their backs on you.

He is not getting any MSM coverage from this.

Him being out of Governorship since 2003 will make this tuff to get off ground. That or he better get on the horn with Ron Paul and see if they can do something together, I am feeling there is just not a solid base out there for him now.

I hope he does well and his endorsement pulls weigh in 2012.

Gary has never said, one way or the other, whether he supports abolishing or keeping the income tax. Stop putting words into his mouth and let him speak for himself on the issue.

Also his only solution to health care is tort reform.

His solution to the health care problem is to get government out of it and to return health care to a solely private sector, patient-doctor relationship. That's all that needs to happen.

He will start getting MSM coverage once his cross-country speaking tour hits full swing and people take notice. Also, there's a Daily Show appearance in the works in the not so distant future, and after that, a LOT of people will know who Gary Johnson is.

What do you mean "In the works"? Are any of Johnson's people in contact with the Daily Show?

I think this looks good. I'd definitely support Johnson in 2012 over anybody but Ron Paul.

Johnson is the real deal.
If Ron decides to run he will certainly get my vote, however, if he sits this one out you can bet i'll be out there working hard for Johnson.

I wish Gary Johnson the best. I still think Ron Paul has the best shot simply because he has gobs of name recognition at this point. On the flip size the enemy would have to start at ground zero for a Gary Johnson smear campaign. Nice website.

is gary johnson sensing a seismic shift on the national landscape?
is his perspective now greatly more than just regional and local???
if he declares an intent early, could this be an advantage as he goes
into exploratory committee mode? most candidates test the waters often!
