Is this blogger blind and deaf?????
TUSCALOOSA | By sheer force of his iconoclastic will and the support of a relatively small, but highly-energized following, Texas U.S. Rep. Ron Paul made himself a player in the race for the Republicans presidential nomination last year before Sen. John McCain clinched the prize fairly early in the process.
Paul, who once ran for president as a Libertarian, was anti-war, anti-government and pro-personal liberty. He was also very much against the whole idea of the Federal Reserve, the nation’s central bank which played a crucial role in averting an even worse recession than the one we are slowly recovering from.
But was the Fed and its policies over the last few years as much to blame for the financial mess as it was useful in helping to solve the problem, which is in itself arguable.
One would think that Paul, who has been forthrightly advocating the Libertarian point of view for years and certainly made the GOP debates entertaining, while they lasted. He was really the only true “maverick” in either party and raised a startling amount of money, mostly from his Internet-savvy followers.
But since President Barack Obama took office in January, Paul seems to have disappeared. Have the Republicans effectively muzzled him? Is the mainstream media purposely ignoring him, or has he simply thrown in the towel? It seems his critique of the Federal Reserve would be even more relevant today than it was last year.
WTF? has this author not turned on a TV, computer or radio in the past several months??
