Steve Nadel, director at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy, who's helping write the bill, said a homeowner could receive up to $12,000 in rebate

are you fucking kidding me

The plan will likely create a new program where private contractors conduct home energy audits, buy the necessary gear and install it, according to a staffer on the Senate Energy Committee and Nadel at the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy.

So is this optional?

I really hate to say it... But because of the line of work I'm in, it could make me a rich man. So...

No, I'm not the enemy. It just hedges my bet. Because.... if it gets shot down Im 100% happy. But if it does not then ...lets just say "the trend is your friend!"

People from other places shrug me off when I say VT is the petri dish for all kinds of political and economic crap. The fact that I'm seeing wtfishness about this from posters in this thread means this idea surprises you... All I can say is, "Welcome to Vermont."

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- President Obama's Cash for Caulkers proposal has almost every homeowner wondering how they'll be able to cash in.

We are so screwed.

Free everything for everyone!!!!

I know I just love to emulate New York's policies and pay for their overpriced home improvements as well as the fraud that will invariably arise. Isn't New York broke and getting $31Billion from the stimulus bill just to keep operations going? Sounds like a great place to use as a model....for the destruction of an economy.

On the Well choreographed Press appearance(PROPAGANDA) of Obama at a Home Depot store... the best standing comment made by one media announcer about the gimmick was:

"Never have I seen so many suits in a Home Depot."

If a thief breaks into your home and steals your TV, are you going to let it go, or are you going to try to get your TV back.

I would support something like, if they 'd just stop doing all that other shit they're doing. However, since it seems they have no intention of stopping the extend and pretend bailout economics I can not express any support for this.

How much money can you possibly save on energy monthly to justify spending 24k in energy saving measures? Sounds like the taxpayers are going to be paying to put new windows and upgrade the appliances for people who live in gated communities.

If a thief breaks into your home and steals your TV, are you going to let it go, or are you going to try to get your TV back.

Bad comparison since most of this money is just borrowed and printed. Tax revenues have CRATERED so the argument about "just getting back my tax money" isn't really appropriate anymore. Especially when many of those that will go for this $12K already took advantage of the $8K house tax credit.

I understand the mentality but I wish people would just accept that the money they paid in was spent was a long time ago. You're now just taking from either China, Ben's printing press, or someone else's pocket. This plan also sounds like a great way to get price inflation rolling.
