Paul looks to face a challenge from several opponents who intend to run for his Republican nomination, including Gerald Wall, a Brazoria petrochemical worker; Tim Graney, a Katy business owner; and John Gay, a school district administrator from Galveston County.
Jeff Cherry, a League City teacher, has announced he will seek the Democratic nomination for the District 14 congressional seat.
Not content to finish fifth out of five, Cherry has seen the writing on the wall and decided not to challenge Ron Paul in the republican congressional primary. This drops Paul's opposition down to three no-name ID, no-significant-money sure losers. None of Wall, Gay or Graney have any chance against Paul.
Instead, Cherry has apparently opted to run as a democrat. Since there are no other democrats running, this ensures him a spot on the general election ballot. Cherry has $449 cash on hand (http://query.nictusa.com/cgi-bin/cancomsrs/?_10+H0TX14127) and $781 campaign debt.
