So much for his side of the story.

I wonder how many other leads they followed up on while hunting for this guy.

Had he been arrested alive, he may have provided some valuable info on assertions that Huckabee commuted his sentence after pressure from evangelical leaders because he had been "saved" in prison. Now we'll never hear his narration of events surrounding his early release.

very odd that the story they are giving to the press essentially says that the cop gunned him down while he tried to run away...

It's odd that today they reported he was shot last night at 2 am. I distinctly remember them reporting he was killed the previous day.

Seattle police kill suspect in officer slayings

By GENE JOHNSON, Associated Press Writer Gene Johnson, Associated Press Writer – 2 hrs 54 mins ago

SEATTLE – The man suspected of gunning down four police officers in a suburban coffee shop was shot and killed by a lone patrolman investigating a stolen car early Tuesday. Four people were arrested for allegedly helping the suspect elude authorities during a massive two-day manhunt.

Maurice Clemmons was carrying a handgun he took from one of the dead officers when a Seattle policeman recognized him near a stolen car in a working-class south Seattle neighborhood about 2:45 a.m., Assistant Police Chief Jim Pugel said.

The vehicle was running but unoccupied when the officer pulled up, radioed in the license plate number and realized the car was stolen, Pugel said.

The officer saw something moving, got out of his car, saw Clemmons and ordered him to show his hands and stop.

"He wouldn't stop," Pugel said. "The officer fired several rounds."

Clemmons also had sustained a serious gunshot wound from one of the four officers killed in the coffee-shop shooting.

Police planned to arrest more people who helped Clemmons.

"We expect to have maybe six or seven people in custody by the day's end," said Ed Troyer, a spokesman for the Pierce County sheriff. "Some are friends, some are acquaintances, some are partners in crime, some are relatives. Now they're all partners in crime."

A few comments on this article, first, they claimed that he had a gun of one of the slain officers on him. Let me ask, when would he have the chance to take a gun from one of the officers? The story went, he entered the coffee shop Sunday morning, shot 2 officers while they were sitting, then shot a 3rd while he was getting up. Then, the 4th one put up a fight and shot him as he was running/leaving the store. The 4th officer later died of his injuries.

So when did he have a chance to take a gun from one of the officers? Why did he abandoned his own gun at the scene (as reported they had his gun recovered from the shop)? I have to answer, saying it would be exceptionally easy to plant a department issued police weapon on him at anytime in the future.

As far as the officer shooting him, I don't know how they could get away with that. If the bullet wounds are from his back, which CivilRadiant mentioned, is this legal for a cop to use lethal force when someone is running away? Can police really use the reason "This guy is a cop killer and is dangerous" to shoot someone on the spot even if he isn't a threat or is running away?

A couple dozen police officers milled around at the scene where Clemmons apparently was shot, shaking hands and patting each other on the back later Tuesday morning.

ALSO: They seem to be rather happy that they shot him, and taking comfort that they can prosecute his friends and family now. It just seems that the lives of the dead officers is lost, and people are foaming at the mouth interested in getting blood from the killer and prosecuting friends and family. The issue then seems to be "crimes commit against the state," rather than mourning the lives of the dead police and killer now. Apparently Clemmens life is not important because he is a cop-killer.

Huck's army is imploding. They're like a box of mice turned loose in a cattery. I heard it from a former Huckster who goes to my church (where else).
He said they keep moving the threads to some member-only place to hide it from outsiders.

That's pretty fucking harsh.

But pretty much true....

The cop that stopped at his incapacitated vehicle heard a sound from "behind him." The suspect fled and was shot in the back.

The suspect was carrying one of the slain officers service pistol.

He already gunned down 4 cops. If he was behind this other with a service pistol would he have not used it?

I only wish the truth. Unfortunately I believe far too many stand something to gain from being untruthful.

yahoos story changed from what I read this morning. I don't recall the "made a move" towards the slain officers weapon..

Maybe it was just me.

edit: part to weapon.....

an officer detected Clemmons while investigating the unoccupied running car. Clemmons then ran counter-clockwise around the car

Even if he was running clockwise, outcome prolly would have been the same.

Yeah. The lack of voice over's are the film's strength. The footage speaks for itself.

Anyhoo, the 9/11 connection should be coming any minute now.

Cop killer hailed as 'Muslim martyr'
James Simpson
December 02, 2009

Maurice Clemmons, the alleged shooter in the Sunday murder of four Lakewood, Washington police officers, was killed early yesterday morning by a Seattle police officer.

The blogsite Fire Andrea Mitchell reported that a radical black Muslim group called National Black Foot Soldiers held a protest today outside the Parkland, Washington coffee shop where the murders occurred. The protesters allegedly gathered to celebrate Clemmons as a "Crowned BOW (Black on White) Martyr," calling his attack a "preemptive strike on terrorists..."

The substance of this story was originally announced by a blog called the Last Crusade, which has also claimed that Clemmons converted to Islam while imprisoned in Arkansas. Gateway Pundit picked up the story as well, noting however, that Last Crusade's claim of Clemmons' conversion is unsubstantiated.

Whatever the Black Foot Soldiers may be planning, there actually was no "rally." Spokesmen for both the Lakewood and Tacoma, Washington police departments said they had not heard of anything like that going on. The Pierce County Sheriff's office, which is handling the coffee shop shooting investigation, stated unequivocally that there was no such protest.

The truth is actually worse. The Black Foot Soldiers were not protesting, except perhaps online, but they were referring to Clemmons' attack as a protest:

Seattle Black Foot Soldiers say the four people slain in a daring demonstration at the Steele Street Forza Coffee House in Parkland were racist terrorists who caused black citizens to live in fear. (Emphasis added.)

What these groups say is that any killing of whites, including in this case Clemmons' cold-blooded murder of officers Renninger, Owens, Griswald, and Richards, is "a legitimate protest". Black Male Felon celebrates the killings as "Brother Maurice Clemmons' daring stand against white police terrorism." The theme of National Black Foot Soldiers is captured in the slogan: "When whites pay reparations there will be no more black on white crime."

The vitriolic hatred on these sites is enough to turn a person's stomach. The bit of writing contained on these sites is essentially a collage of run-on sentences spewing foul language interspersed liberally with admonitions to kill whitey. They blatantly advocate murder and defend other recent cases of seemingly senseless black on white killings, like the four Oakland police officers killed by Lovelle Mixon, and many, many others.

Many who voted for Barack Obama believed his election would finally put an end to this kind of racist hatred. Indeed, he promised to work toward that end. If anything however, his election seems to have emboldened it. Jeremiah Wright should have been a warning.

It is pointless to argue with the kind of lunatic delusion that motivates these people. They are beyond reaching. It recalls the video of "Professor" Kamau Kambon advocating ing the extermination of white people. The Black Male Felon site defines the terms BOW (black on white) BOB (black on black) WOB (white on black) and WOW (white on white), while the National Black Foot Soldiers objects to black on black killing, but not killing per se, reminding its readers "THERE IS 1 ENEMY. LET US HAVE 1 MIND. [sic]"

It is not known at present whether or not Clemmons was associated with any of these groups, but one post ascribes a quote to Clemmons, in which he says: "Watch the news, I'm gonna kill a bunch of cops."

Whatever the case, it is likely that Clemmons knew he would find police victims at that coffee shop. The Forza Coffee Company was founded by a retired police officer. And while the Steele Street franchise where the shootings occurred had no tie to him, it was apparently a place frequented by local police.
