Liberals-

Costello: So you agree that the US shouldn't be in 140 countries around the world?

Abbot: Why sure.

Costello: You also think that the US having troops in 140 countries is the result of a standing army being a danger to liberty as the founding fathers claimed?

Abbot: Why sure.

Costello: So why not abolish our standing army and rely on our armed populace?

Abbot: Our armed populace isn't trained to defend the homeland and besides, only the military should have guns.

Costello: You said that our standing army was a danger to liberty?

Conservatives-

Costello: You agree that the second amendment is an individual right to bear arms?

Abbot: Why sure.

Costello: You also agree that it eliminates the need for a standing army which is a danger to liberty?

Abbot: Why sure.

Costello: So why do we have troops in 140 countires around the world?

Abbot: They are defending our freedoms. If you don't like it, you can leave.

Costello: Being in 140 countires isn't defending our freedoms.

Abbot: You sound like a left wing loon?

Costello: How can I be a leftist when I support the individual right to bear arms?

Abbot: Well it is good you support the second amendment. Otherwise you wouldn't sound like a left wing loon.

Costello: (spikes cane into ground in frustration)

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving!

A lot of us used to be either liberals or conservatives. Sure, some were moderates, but for the most part, we all used to identify with one party or the other. Now, for whatever reason, we all saw the light and are now believers in limited government and freedom. So, to say that it is a waste of time trying to convert people isn't a winning argument.

Besides, the war argument should only be used with liberals, never staunch conservatives.

We need to focus on what most people can't argue about:

* That 7 un-elected men should not be controlling the money supply.
* The national debt needs to be paid off and we need to have a Balanced Budget Amendment.
* Personal liberties need to be respected.

While it is possible to debate against those, it is certainly difficult.
