I just finished watching the whole three part interview. I have some questions.

Is Jon Stewart right, that we appear to be saying "Obama is a socialist pig" just to get votes?
Should we tone it down? Though we are correct in saying Obama is a socialist pig, should we keep that truth to ourselves? And win on principle? Does Ron Paul go around saying the stuff like that? Will we catch more flies with honey or with salt? [to the Christians: What would Jesus do?]

Maybe Jon Stewart is on to something. I have to think more about it.

Part One was on TV: http://bit.ly/129n2L

Sometimes you have to call a spade a spade. The bailouts, private industry takeover, government mandated heath care, etc is socialism or fascism.

Their policies are offensive to the traditions of this country and freedom of the individual. It is not wrong to call them out using those words, because there is no hyperbole there.

Now the media is guilty in picking out one or two nutjobs out of a crowd of 100,000 to make it look like everyone is a whackjob, racist, etc. They are creating the phony narrative themselves, and John Stewart has been quite guilty of this dishonesty, but he uses humor to make his point which makes it all the more effective.

It is no different than during the Bush years when flamboyant groups like code pink got all of the attention, opposed to the average antiwar American who didn't want to send their brothers and sisters to die for an unjust war.

Stewart is absolutely correct that most people have only "woken up" because it's a Democrat in charge. If McCain had won, people would probably have been more inclined to have passed up a Tuesday night town hall or tea party for American Idol reruns.
