hmmm. I like Kierkegaard.

EDIT: from sig:

Truth always rests with the minority, and the minority is always stronger than the majority, because the minority is generally formed by those who really have an opinion, while the strength of a majority is illusory, formed by the gangs who have no opinion -- and who, therefore, in the next instant (when it is evident that the minority is the stronger) assume its opinion ... while Truth again reverts to a new minority. - Soren Kierkegaard

Just a few points:

(1) "Man" (human nature) does not choose to submit to tyranny instead of freedom, it is not the default / nature...

(2) State education, Main Stream Media, Propaganda, the elite have dumbed down the population. It is a direct result of statism. Generations of generations that accept the status quo, but there will always be the remnant.

(3) THE POLITICS OF OBEDIENCE: THE DISCOURSE OF VOLUNTARY SERVITUDE by Etienne de la Boetie (pdf) (http://mises.org/rothbard/boetie.pdf) (audiobook) (http://mises.org/media.aspx?action=author&ID=106)

The Political Thought of Étienne de La Boétie
by Murray N. Rothbard . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 7

The Politics of Obedience: The Discourse of Voluntary
Servitude . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 37

Part I— The fundamental political question is why do people
obey a government. The answer is that they tend to
enslave themselves, to let themselves be governed by
tyrants. Freedom from servitude comes not from violent
action, but from the refusal to serve. Tyrants fall
when the people withdraw their support. . . . . . . . . . . . . 39

Part II —Liberty is the natural condition of the people.
Servitude, however, is fostered when people are raised
in subjection. People are trained to adore rulers. While
freedom is forgotten by many there are always some
who will never submit.. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 49

Part III —If things are to change, one must realize the extent
to which the foundation of tyranny lies in the vast
networks of corrupted people with an interest in
maintaining tyranny. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . 71

What are we up against? We're up against the state.

and what is "the state" if not an apparatus that exist for the sole purpose of perpetuating inauthentic lives?
