"An unusual coalition of progressive economists, labor leaders, and bloggers has decided to fight back against a congressional amendment that would allow the Federal Reserve to continue operating in secrecy.

In a Thursday letter to the House Financial Services Committee, economists like Dean Baker and Rob Johnson, author Naomi Klein, and such labor luminaries as the AFL-CIO's Richard Trumka and the SEIU's Andy Stern, urged committee members to shoot down an amendment by Rep. Mel Watt (D-N.C.) that would essentially allow the Fed to keep the lights off while it throws money around."

This is good.

I don't read huffingtonpost, but dailykos was all over this before Grayson became a household name. During the summer there were several front page blogs with hundreds of posts. Ron Paul got most the credit, although there were plenty of disclaimers like"ron paul is still a nut...but" .

I don't think we would have had as much support as we do now without Grayson, but there would have been some liberal/progressive support.

Still, MSNBC, HuffPo and company helped us out this time around.

Only Ron Paul could bring Michelle Bachmann and Alan Grayson together as stalwarts on the same side of things...

My concern is what these people want to replace the Fed with. A one world currency perhaps?

I was suprised to see that too but I'll take it!

SEIU = 1.8 million people
AFL-CIO = 11 million people

That's a lot of support lining up behind Paul's bill from people I never expected would back us. Dr. Paul is building an impressive coalition here of people from very different idealogical backgrounds.
