Lest we forget, let's take some time to recognize.

Those who gave their lives didn't always have the benefit of knowing what we know but they gave their lives unselfishly for the concept of liberty and to protect their own people close at hand.

As we learn to understand and reject the institutional forms that might have got us into battle that we did not need or want, I WANT YOU TO EACH REFLECT NOW UPON OUR OWN PEOPLE, OUR ANCESTORS WHO FOUGHT AND DIED BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE IN US.

A man ready to lay down his life for others must have included you and me and their sacrifice was their lives. And our returning vets are hideously injured. For right or wrong. They are OUR people.

Take off your hat and stand at attention and honor our people. The next step is we will take care of them.

Honor the braves because one day we will be them. Honor our warrior tradition.

Around the hills, around the mountains I hear something different tonight.

It sounds like the 4th of July.

We are demonstrating our arms tonight. I busted off a single firecracker just to answer the call. Shots are being fired in the mountains tonight. It's a new holiday.

Shots are being fired tonight in the mountains and we know exactly what it means.

yes, men like this...

Isaac Davis (1745 - April 19, 1775) was a militia officer in the American Revolution. Davis led the first attack on the British Regular army during the American revolutionary war, and was the first to die in that battle.

He was captain of the Acton Minutemen, and his men were possibly the best trained and equipped militia in New England. A gunsmith, he provided every man with a cartridge box to aid in rapid fire and a bayonet for hand-to-hand combat. His company assembled twice weekly for drills and marksmanship.

Davis was convinced that he would die if forced into battle. Several days before the battle a large owl, a symbol of death, had flown into his home and perched on his favorite gun and remained for several days. On the day of his death, the last words he spoke to his wife were “take good care of the children,” all four of which were ill.[1]

On the morning of April 19, 1775, the town of Acton was roused by a rider from Concord, Dr. Samuel Prescott. The Minutemen gathered at Davis's home, which still stands on Hayward Road. He is reported to have said "I have a right to go to Concord on the King's highway and I will go to Concord" before marching his men. On the border of Concord, he gave all of his men a chance to turn back, but none did. They encountered but avoided some Regulars destroying militia supplies on Colonel James Barrett's farm and continued to the North Bridge.

Upon reaching the area of the North Bridge, history has lost exactly what transpired. What is known is that Davis, a junior officer, led his men to the rightmost (and first to face battle) position, which is the place of the senior officer. Some historians believe he was given this position because his company was fully equipped with bayonets, others claim it was an accident or hubris, while others think the lead position was offered to another officer who declined before it was offered to Davis.

Also lost is what exactly he said as he led his men, and why. Quotes include "I have not a man that is afraid to go," "I haven't a man that is afraid to go" or that he was questioned if he was afraid to go and answered "No, I am not and I haven't a man that is!"

Davis did not survive the battle as he was shot in the first or third volley, and was the first to die in battle fighting the Regulars.

Edit: And How could I forget CAPTAIN SAMUEL WHITTEMORE (http://www.revolutionarywararchives.org/whittemore.html)? CLick on this link and become inspired and thankful for men like this.

"...His fellow minuteman started firing at the oncoming British Grenadiers of the 47th Regiment of Foot, falling back to reload, then firing again. Sam waited. Finally, when the column was directly in front of him, he stood and fired his musket. A grenadier fell dead. He drew his two pistols, firing both at almost point blank range. Another grenadier fell dead, a third fell mortally wounded. The British soldiers were on top of him, he had not the time to reload his musket or pistols, so drawing his sword, he . started flailing away at the bayonet wielding soldiers. A soldier leveled his Brown Bess musket, at point blank range and fired. The .69 calibre ball struck Sam in the cheek, tearing away part of his face and throwing him to the ground. Sam valiantly tried to rise, fending off bayonet thrusts with his sword, but he was overpowered. Struck in the head with a musket butt, he went down again, then was bayoneted thirteen times and left for dead.

...He recovered and remained active for the next eighteen years. He was terribly scarred, but always was proud of what he had done for his adopted country. He is quoted as having stated that he would take the same chances again. You can question the old soldier's tactical judgment, making the stand in the manner he did, but you can never question his bravery.

Captain Whittemore was 80 years old during this battle.

Rifle fire on the night sky across the mountains.

Williamson Valley telling us they are ready.

Twin Lakes answering across the night sky.

I think they were firing .308. Sounded like that. White fire, blinding. Prescott Arizona. No worries about us baby dolls. Snug as bugs in rugs up here in our mountains.

I celebrate the worriors who have been, the warriors who are now and the warriors we are becoming.

You who eschew violence, I applaud you.

Today is about those who have born the cost and whom stand ready to pay it again.

A new day is coming but it will rise black in the Eastern sky. Oh wait, it's here now.

Ready arms. This day tells us that any day is the right day.

"It is unlawful to discharge a center-fire cartridge from any rifle within city limits unless duly constituted by a recognized and lawful organized body under the sanctions of which are rendered appropriate by town counsel upon which such consideration may be made".

Well fuck that.

Respect and Honor from me and mine.
It's the least that we can do.
I guess the We is Me and Mine but unfortunately not All of You.

Anyone that thinks that a country should have no military, either wants that nation destroyed. Or is living in a fantasy.

I do not respect your lack of logic.

Dont worry, the anarchist who dont think we need a military are morons living in a fantasy worlds. When the proverbial shit hits the fan these people will not be who we turn to, it will of course be the military men/women (the more of these types we get the better). It seems to me this people are highly naive, and probably a big reason why Ron Paul remains fringe. I think these are the same type of people who would rather remain ideologically "pure" than gain any type of power.

Lets take a scenario. What happens if there was another Terrorist attack via the radical Muslims (even after we have brought home the troops). The public would be clambering for a response, the statists salivating at the thought of returning to power, ready to lambaste us for our "foolish decision" of "pulling out".

Ron Paul recieved more contributions from the Military than all other candidates----> COMBINED.

Thank you Oyate for this thread. Our current military has merely replaced the red blooded warriors of our heritage.

I'mma FIRM believer that everything that we really need to know- we already know. We just need to reflect in order to remember it. It's not the learning, it is the unlearning. People talk about "change", cause they don't want you to RETURN TO YOUR ROOTS IN ORDER TO REMEMBER.

I'm late in thanking our Veterans on Veteran's day, but it shouldn't be just "A day", so I proudly support "The day after Veteran's Day"...

ad infintium...
