CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The Charleston County GOP Executive Committee said Tuesday that it’s voted unanimously to censure Republican U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham for "his failure to represent the wishes of the people of South Carolina."

At its November meeting, the Executive Committee said it was disappointed in Sen. Graham for his work on a bipartisan "Cap and Trade" energy bill, along with his positions on multi-billion dollar bank bailouts and amnesty for illegal aliens.

In a statement Tuesday, Chairwoman Lin Bennett said, "Charleston County Republican voters have grown increasingly frustrated with Sen. Graham and his voting record, which are frankly out of step with the beliefs of Republican voters.

This vote should not surprise any of us. What this shows us is that Charleston County Republicans are demanding better from Senator Graham."

Beautiful. The big-government Democrats posing as Republicans need to be shown the door.

IIRC, back in 2007 some ron paul supporters came 1 vote shy of doing this also in another county (maybe greenville?)

What exactly does this mean? Just that the county GOP voted as a whole that they don't approve of him?

Hello JamesButabi --

The Charleston County GOP Executive Committee said Tuesday that it’s voted unanimously to censure Republican U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham for "his failure to represent the wishes of the people of South Carolina."

This is significant in many ways. The Charleston County GOP Executive Committee is usually composed of the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Treasurer, Secretary, and several bonus members.

A unanimous vote to censure Sen. Graham means that ALL the members of the Executive Committee agreed. This is unusual, and it indicates that the board was VERY DISPLEASED.

The results of this vote will be discussed by most Republicans in Charleston County. It may get the ball rolling to help a candidate mount a serious challenge and replace Sen. Graham.

Lastly, this was issued as a press release, and was printed in their local paper. I was very impressed with the leadership in the Charleston County GOP Executive Committee!!!

Nice. The republican party can only regain it's credentials as fiscal conservatives by standing by principals and punishing their own bailout bunnies.
