I stepped into an argument on another forum today and this was a response I got in regards to healthcare from a hopelessly loyal liberal without a cell in his brain that can see what is outside of his dense box.

Please discuss.

a government OPTION is not socialism. you do not have to let the government wipe your ass for you, but if you're poor and disabled and can't reach your ass, it's probably the best option for you.

so fuck the fuck off. it isn't forced upon anyone, the government should always be there to have a back-up plan if the private institutions fuck everything up (like they so often tend to do)

Tell hopelessly loyal liberal: No, fuck you fuckball, please direct me to the place where I can opt out of this whole mess if nothing is being forced upon anyone.

I went with a painfully sarcastic response which essentially says the same thing. :D Just waiting for his ridiculous reply.

What is there to discuss, I don't even know what hes saying its just rhetoric and flaming.

The point is all the regulations will cause private insurers to go out of business, since the competing government option can keep rates low by operating at a loss. The government option will eventually if not pretty quickly kill off the private insurers or render them useless, thus making it pretty much not an option.

In economics, crowding out is any reductions in private consumption or investment that occurs because of an increase in government spending. If the increase in government spending is financed by a tax increase, the tax increase would tend to reduce private consumption. If instead the increase in government spending is not accompanied by a tax increase, government borrowing to finance the increased government spending would increase interest rates, leading to a reduction in private investment.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crowding_out_(economics)

So all the tax monies (and lol its not optional to pay taxes) will crowd out the private insurers, redirect money that would have gone to them to the government.

So the public option will crowd out the private insurers, and all the regulations will cause them to raise rates while the government keeps its rates the same while operating at a loss.

Not 100% clear on this so someone correct me if I am wrong.
