Thompson brings in more than $11.5 million
Campaign: Checks still being counted from more than 70,000 contributors

Presidential candidate former Sen. Fred Thompson, R-Tenn., is reporting his first campaign contributions since he formally entered the presidential race last month

WASHINGTON - Republican presidential hopeful Fred Thompson has brought in more than 11 and a-half million dollars over four months.

The numbers are the first to be reported since he formally entered the race last month.

Two Republicans familiar with the fundraising by the actor and former senator say the amount includes more than three million dollars raised in June, before the third-quarter fundraising period began.

The two Republicans also say checks are still being counted from more than 70,000 contributors.

Since formally entering the race during the first week of September, Thompson has raised roughly $200,000 a day.

Please note they he's getting to count FOUR months while the other candidates (who officially entered the race before him) are only getting to count THREE months. I'd be willing to bet that he's actually counting monies garnered for MORE than four months.

Good point. Reportedly $3.5 million was from June and $11 million over the past three months. I've also heard a rumor that half of his money is from TN.

Half his first batch came from Tennessee. He has all those high paid consultants to pay. Plus he dropped in the polls in SC. It will all be gone in two months.

I think you need to re-read that. Its about 8 million for the past 3 months.

And he will spend it all running against Romney, Rudy & McCain. Let the globalists fight each other as long as possible. The more the vote is diluted the better. I only wish Newt would have entered the race to further dilute it.

What a waste of money. He doesn't have a chance in hell and he's anti-liberty.

I also heard that about half of what he earned was also spent on fundraising alone.

I wish he didn't have a chance. But right now I'm hoping he can split the neocon vote.

The fact that he does have a chance shows how shallow the talent pool is in the GOP. I think after the George Allen implosion a last year the GOP has been grabbing at straws

Yes, Dr. Paul's campaign has a very low burn rate.
