I was doing a job search and this popped up. A warning that the government would essentially tap into your computer for various purposes. Please advise me if I'm reading this wrong.

Department of the Navy, Civilian Human Resources
U.S. Department of Defense Warning Statement

You are accessing a U.S. Government (USG) information system (IS) that is provided for USG-authorized use only. By using this IS(which includes any device attached to this IS), you consent to the following conditions:

•The USG routinely intercepts and monitors communications on this IS for purposes including, but not limited to, penetration testing, COMSEC monitoring, network operations and defense, personnel misconduct (PM), law enforcement (LE), and counterintelligence (CI) investigations.
•At any time, the USG may inspect and seize data stored on this IS.
•Communications using, or data stored on this IS, are not private, are subject to routine monitoring, interception and search, and may be disclosed or used for any USG-authorized purpose.
•Not withstanding the above, using the IS does not constitute consent to PM, LE, or CI investigative searching or monitoring of the content of privileged communications, or work product, related to personal representation or services by attorneys, psychotherapists, or clergy, and their assistants. Such communications and work product are private and confidential. See User Agreement for details.

Anyone else run into this stuff?

They are talking about their server, not your computer.

yes; i have to log on to a DHS site at work for security purposes, and this message (for the most part) is in big red letters at the sign on page.

there's some language that seems to protect privacy, but aside from 'privileged' communications (which would be very narrowly define in court i bet) it sounds like everything else is game. Since it's from my work computer, I don't mind. Sure there's no privacy, but I have no illusion of one at work. If I was working from home and had to deal with this, i'd look for another revenue stream. We do have the freedom to NOT work for the .gov
