View Full Version : It's time we officially call ourselves "the Patriots"

We can no longer call ourselves "Paulites," "libertarians," "conservatives," or "Ron Paul Revolutionaries." This movement has branched off into something much bigger and more diverse than things ever were during the campaign.

Everyone on this board should simply call themselves "Patriots."

Let's face it: the Ron Paul Revolution NEVER was homogenized. There were leftists; liberals; right-wingers; atheists; evangelicals; Libertarians (and libertarians); Republicans; Democrats; Conservatives; Independents; Whites; Blacks....but it was all centered around Ron Paul. We would google him almost everyday. Ron Paul was coming out of our ears!

Now we have so many who were NEVER part of the Paul campaign, but are starting to believe what we've been saying:

The Tea Party people,
the town hall protesters,
Rand Paul supporters,
Schiff Supporters,
Rush Limbaugh fans,
the Glenn Beck lovers,
the Glenn Beck haters,
the Alex Jones lovers/haters,
those who love both,
those who hate both,
Obama haters,
Bush haters,
everyone against the Heath Reform Bill
and everyone (including liberals) who wants to Audit the FED

The word patriot doesn't pigeonhole, and can be used to describe anyone--if only for a moment. I got the idea from a documentary on the American Revolution called Liberty:

http://www-tc.pbs.org/ktca/liberty/images/home_main_img.gif

The British were called "the British" and the rebelling colonists were simply called "the Patriots." It was very clarifying :D

We have so many people who would've been considered neocons who are now using the word "constitution." Everyone who voices against tyranny should be called a patriot--whether or not they are socialists like Alan Grayson.

patriot:

1. a person who loves, supports, and defends his or her country and its interests with devotion.

2. a person who regards himself or herself as a defender, esp. of individual rights, against presumed interference by the federal government

I'm down with the second definition, not the first. Unfortunately the word invokes the first definition in most people's minds, you can ask anyone to define the word patriot and very few would give you something like the second definition.

You can call yourself whatever, I'm content with libertarian. And I think its kind of awkward trying to claim a monopoly on the title. Most people would call themselves patriots if asked, ask Barney Frank or Nancy Pelosi if they are patriots and they'll say "you bet". Its not descriptive enough, people have their own subjective interpretations of what constitutes patriotism.

I like it.. I say lets do it... We can take back the term after it was co-opted by those assholes in government when they passed the "Patriot" Act..

I'm down with both definitions actually. :D

It is not in the best "interests" of my country, or any country, to have policies that don't promote liberty and sovereignty. We would be better protected, we would be wealthier, and we would be freer.

We can't let news speak like the "Patriot Act" change the meaning of the word.

We could be the Patriot Party.

And this is still the RP forums. This little corner of the internet is still the paulites. We maybe part of a bigger movement but this is the core liberty spot and it was started by RONALD PAUL. Sorry I am not ready to ditch RP's name.

Neither will I, and I'm not suggesting that to anyone. I am a Ron Paul Libertarian, and I am proud of saying that. But what do you call Kucinich who was against the war and was the only one with the guts to call for Bush and Cheney's impeachment? What about Senator Demint, who supports the war, but created and sponsored the Senate version of the audit the FED bill? Ron Paul certainly didn't abandon conservatism when he push for Americans to vote 3rd Party--even Nader, who Ron appeared with on Wolf Blitzer.

I'm saying that there is a basic common link among everyone who fights for liberty. Though there are sub-divisions among the ranks (especially on this RP forum), there are patriots who believe in liberty, but have never even heard of RP.

We could be the Patriot Party.

Someone beat you to it. :D

I'm a patriot so I can't see a reason to disagree.

I am a Patriot, a lover of liberty, a brother to many, and a rebel to tyranny.

What was that Adam Kokesh speech where he said something along that line? That pumped me up

Ron Paul's Patriot: The true patriot is motivated by a sense of responsibility and out of self-interest for himself, his family, and the future of his country to resist government abuse of power. He rejects the notion that patriotism means obedience to the state.

If that's what a patriot is, than I'm 100% on board :D

Adjust the font so it isn't in cursive. That makes it hard to read. Looks great though!

I just thought it fit with the font of "Liberty" best. maybe it can be enlarged slightly, or tweaked. i spend maybe 3 mins on that :)

I really hate to be a party pooper, and I don't "know" many people around these parts, but I for sure remember your name OP- mainly because you recently started a thread denouncing Ron Paul's 2012 run-
and so soon- even before he himself has announced he will even consider running. Bleeeeep blleeeepppp bleeeeeep

That said, I see what you are saying about trying to be less "polarizing", but I see that as a reaction to what is completely obvious- a collectivization of our society. I am not so sure you get that...

;)

exactly.

And I won't even begin to get in to Orwellianisms- ie- War is Peace, Ignorance is Strength, Freedom is Slavery, and its current euphamisms such as The "Patriot Act"...

edit-
Just catching up- you started TWO threads slamming Ron's Run, Ian.

I call you number two chemoslabe

Thad be me!:D Although I never "denounced" his run. And I hate to poop on your party too, but I will continue to be the voice of reality as that story progresses. I think the more people like Johnson and Paul and Ventura who are running, the better. But, like last election, Ron's campaign will be a great way of reaching people, but he won't win.

Ron Paul encouraged us to vote third party--no matter who was running! Even Nader! So being united is not collectivization.

I'm strongly against this. You do realize the Patriots gave themselves that name to make an us vs. them situation. Then they use it to justify certain abuses of rights, like tarring and feathering Tories and making an example out of them, stealing their property, and using force to get those on the fence to join their movement.

I'll pass.

The guberment goons may already have body bags ready and waiting ...and special pre-printed
generic toe tags that say, "patriot patsy". And they also monitor all tar and feather purchases closely
...as if their lives depended upon it.

Nice, but "self interest for himself" is grammatically redundant. Reword the phrase to make more sense.
