Do you think HQ is intentionally waiting to release the numbers until the buzz from the other candidates wears off and Ron Paul can become a hot topic? I think it'd be a good strategy..

They mean lower than John McCain's $5 million, not lower overall! They'll only eat their words if Dr. Paul has raised more than John McCain.

Something very similar was written before. It just means lower than the "top tier," which is likely true ( lower than Rudy, Romney, Fred).

Something is odd about all these press 'leaks' from other campaigns while the Paul campaign is tight around the seams regarding Q3.

They don't mean lower numbers than in 2Q fundraising necessarily!

They list all of the candidates in each party in order, first the Democrats, then the Republicans.

Within each party, they list top fundraisers to lowest fundraisers.

They didn't have any announced numbers or good estimates for anyone who raised less than McCain at $5 million.

The intended meaning clearly is "Lower numbers (than McCain's 5 million) are expected for Sen. Sam Brownback of Kansas, Rep. Duncan Hunter of California, Rep. Ron Paul of Texas, Sen. Tom Tancredo of Colorado and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Save your nastygrams for another article. This could have been more unambiguously phrased but it is accurate enough. If any of these other campaigns listed were sure they had beaten McCain (including Ron Paul's), you can be sure they'd already have announced it.

No, I do not think the campaign would play that kind of game, but that will be the effect nonetheless.
