Guards working in Iraq for Blackwater USA have shot innocent Iraqi civilians and have sought to cover up the incidents, sometimes with the help of the State Department, a report to a Congressional committee said today.
Do you believe the U.S. government in any way helped in the cover up of Blackwater reckless behavior? -----> http://www.youpolls.com/details.asp?pid=622

If the government did cover up for them it came from the Executive branch. Congress for the most part is clueless on what Blackwater's involvement is and to what extent they conduct their operations. This is what happens when you create private armies that do not answer to the people / congress.

They are being given huge sums of money through no-bid contracts to grow their power. This way they can become an effective private army for the powers that be... and we get to pay for every thing. Since they recruit primarily military personnel, we pay for the training while they are in the service... then we get to pay even more when they become a private contractor since it's our tax dollars that pay for the contracts.

In a previous shooting by a Blackwater guy of a bodyguard for an Iraqi VP, he ran to the American embassy who got him out of the country within hours, far beyond the reach of Iraq's civil authorities.

Maliki heads what is little more than a puppet government. We had a number of these in Vietnam which we kept deposing and replacing as they tried to make peace with the North.
