Ensign receives handwritten confirmation

This doesn't happen often enough.

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) received a handwritten note Thursday from Joint Committee on Taxation Chief of Staff Tom Barthold confirming the penalty for failing to pay the up to $1,900 fee for not buying health insurance.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."

The note was a follow-up to Ensign's questioning at the markup.

Anyone have any details on what a person like me does that is out of work with no income? Is it still a "crime" for me to not pay a tax to a private organization?

Something tells me though it's false advertising and when I show up its a 75 year old grandmother in black latex with a M-16 stuck up my ass 10 hours a day. Ol' Obama going to take a cue from Pol Pot.

Is it clear whether it is an individual penalty or the penalty for employers not participating? Not that it matters, it's still bullshit, but I can't see that being enforecable.
