From the article:

The British singer, who released the seasonal album "On A Winter's Night" this week, said he's fascinated by American politics, Obama, and also by Obama's opponents on the right.

"It's aggressive and violent and full of fear," he said of the backlash against Obama. "They don't want change, they want things to feel the same because they feel safe there."

I mean, it couldn't be that they are versed in free market economics, historical study, and a proper understanding of the constitution.

They hate the black man!!

And Obama brings change!! From a statist, socialist, big-government system to... well, look, he said that he liked him some change!!!

"I can't think of anyone better qualified because of his background, his education, particularly in regard to Islam,"

God Dammit, I mean, that's always how I pick my favorite politicians!!

Oh yeah, and his background? The chicago-style corrupt politics? The Rezco scandals? His admitted infatuation with marxists in college? His boyhood friendship with Communist Frank Marshall Davis? The fact that nobody knows who paid for parts of his education?

There's a little black spot on the sun today
It's the same old thing as yesterday
There's a black cat caught in a high tree top
There's a flag-pole rag and the wind won't stop

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain

God save us all from the useful idiots.

:D

I love his music, and I even like some of his politics, but Sting really missed the mark here, he is just groveling at the feet of Obama like the rest of Europe, showing off how enlightened he is.

I really liked the following line from "They dance alone"

Dear Mister Pinochet, you've sown a bitter crop,
that foreign money that supports you, one day that money's gonna stop.
No wages for your torture, no budget for your guns,
imagine your own mother, dancing with her invisible son. (pun on invisible sun?

Anyway great talent, and I do like a lot of what he promotes, but he is definitely far too neo-liberal.

So she took her love
For to gaze awhile
Upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down
Among the fields of FIAT CURRENCY
