PLEASE DO THIS IN YOUR TOWN

Bypass the mainstream media. For free too. Its a beautiful thing.

-Submit programs (with Ron Paul in them) to your local Public Access TV station
The Basic Process (http://www.conservativeusa.org/crthow.htm)

Q: Can I air a show that I did not create?
A: Yes. Every producer will be required to complete a ‘Cablecast Request Form,’ which states that you have obtained permission from talent and any applicable copyright holders. This document states that you are legally responsible for the program.

-Programs to submit to public access:

-AND/OR Host Your Own (Ron Paul Friendly) Talk Show - Public Access Guide (http://www.conservativeusa.org/public-access-guide.htm)

Q:Is this legal?
A:"[public access stations] let you promote your organization or candidate as long as you avoid specific words like 'Buy this book' or 'Membership is $15.00'. Some stations may also prohibit directly supporting or opposing candidates in elections, such as stating: 'Vote for Smith', which sounds (and is) un-American, but you may be stuck with their rules. You are welcome to say 'Call or write us for more information' and when people do call, you're free to sign them up as members or sell them publications as you would anyone who contacts you."

-Some Public access organizations:
List1 (http://www.communitymedia.se/cat/linksus.htm)
List2 (http://www.silcom.com/~taxabo/tv.htm)
List3 (http://dmoz.org/Arts/Television/Cable_Television/Public_Access/)

State laws and station rules may vary.

Ron Paul on all the TVs in your station's range just for the price of some effort. In theory it would be national broadcasting if we all did this.

Just google the name of the show he was on to find their contact info.

Thoughts?

How would you show permission from the copyright holders on those videos?

This is the basic process (http://www.conservativeusa.org/crthow.htm)from Conservative Roundtable:

All you need to do is to get the initial approval from the "public access" channel on cable to air this important program on a regular weekly schedule.

Here's how:

1. Call your local cable TV company and speak to the "public access" channel. Use the phone number on your cable bill or program guide, or get the number from the phone book. You do not need to be a subscriber to cable to use this channel. Public access is quite different from PBS/Public Broadcasting System.

2. Tell them you wish to be a "Local Sponsor" for a 1/2 hour weekly public affairs-type program which is produced at a different public access station. This usually doesn't cost anything. Ask them to mail you any forms and rules needed to for them to approve the program for broadcast. When you get the forms, call or e-mail Art Harman at 703-938-9626 and we'll help you fill out the forms, and then you can return the signed, completed forms to the station.

3. The station will contact you when they approve the show for broadcast or if they have any questions. We're happy to help you through this process. Let us know when they're ready for DVDs or video tapes to broadcast, and we'll send them to the station on a regular schedule. We pay the cost of the DVDs or tapes and the postage. There's no charge to you.

I assume they fax you copyright permission? I just emailed Conservative Roundtable right now to get more details. I'll update this thread.

i'm mixed... as worked up as everyone gets over "misrepresentation"
of RP over just about everything, i can only imagine the blowback
of an onslaught of Public Access programs flying under the
banner of the Ron Paul Nation. Mucho agent opportunity, I'd like
to add.

the first place i ever lived that had people doing shows on public
access was also the first place I ever heard of Alex Jones (he does(?)/did
a show on cable access)... I love the work alex jones does, i love that
he's pissed off and goes too far most of the time...

but consider how much AJ bashing takes place around here.

AJ is a fear-mongering money-hungry sensationalist. How is that in anyway comparable to RP?

So many on here are worried about bad publicity. There are a lot of people that don't know Ron Paul even exists! Name recognition should be priority. Forget about the small stuff.
(I do agree with keeping the truth movement out of the Ron Paul Revolution.)

Oh man, I remember all those "At issue" videos. They're GREAT! They used to run in my area locally, years ago. I had been wishing I had them all recorded. In fact, I might have them somewhere.

I wish we had all of these and could re-run them on our local access channels. I see where you can buy them, unfortunately in VHS format. But, I'm not too keen on paying 1K for them. Most of my money has gone to the campaign and to other grassroots efforts.

Hey NewMedia, you linkd to YouTubes. Are you saying that the TV station can use a YouTube to broadcast over the air? What I know about the technicalities of broadcast could not fill a thimble.

Who watches Public Access?

Lots of people watch public access when you phone all your friends and tell them to watch Ron Paul. There can be great success with this. Ron Paul will look more viable if people see him on TV.

That's what I thought at first, but this is probably worth it even just to catch a few channel surfers.

I've been doing this for months now. Will keep it going LONG past the campaign too (the John Birch Society JBS has given me their full permission to run their entire line of videos). But what I found to be a problem is trying to get good quality media to be transferred to the bigger television screen. If you save YouTube videos and try to blow them up to television sized, it looks pretty bad. Everyone's pasty, the resolution is terrible, etc. What one needs are as-close-to-original-copies media as possible.
