Fair Reporting On Ron Paul

I am writing in response to the Ron Paul article you published entitled "Paul Backers 'Paint the Town Ron'" ( http://www.chattanoogan.com/articles/article_114369.asp). As a Ron Paul supporter, I wanted to thank you for your fair reporting.

Sadly, it seems increasingly rare to find true fair reporting in journalism. It seems everyone these days has an agenda to carry out and they allow that agenda to course its way into their news coverage. It's nice to see another fine publication in the United States not resorting to that sorry state.

In this story, you gave the reader the facts about the local Ron Paul supporters and what they were doing for their candidate and that was that. You didn't try to convince the reader that "Ron Paul doesn't stand a chance" like many of your colleagues in local and national publications across the country, you didn't attack him or his movement as some kind of fringe group, you merely reported on what you saw...the facts.

Fact reporting and investigative journalism each have their place, as does opinion journalism, but the increasing pervasiveness of the latter along with the suppression of the former has been the hallmark of this shift in American journalism of late.

So, sir or madame, in closing, I just want to thank you again for not succumbing to this tidal wave of reduced reporting quality and being principled in your craft. You are a credit to your profession and your entire publication deserves a round of applause.

Sincerely,

Brad Linzy

If only every journalist that wrote fair reporting got a letter like that.....

They'd be inspired.
