House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr., R-Norwalk, pictured standing, far right, speaks while colleagues Rep. Barbara Lambert, D-Milford and Rep. Jack F. Hennessy, D-Bridgeport, play solitaire Monday night as the House convened to vote on a new budget. (AP)
The guy sitting in the row in front of these two... he's on Facebook, and the guy behind Hennessy is checking out the baseball scores.

This is the Connecticut General Assembly, not the federal government

I realized that too but it's probably about the same there, I know if I were a congressman I'd sleep through most hearings.

Great! Our economy would be in a much better state if we simply paid these people to play solitaire. We don't want these ignoramuses to try to run our economy.

Typical. I have a friend who works for the city and says people only spend about half their time doing actual work.

I'd rather have them playing solitaire than dreaming up and voting on new ways to screw us! But then that begs the question, why do we have a congress to begin with?

We have a congress to push checks and balances against the executive branch...you know, so a president cant act like a damn dictator and send us into war just because HE wants to......Oh wait, nevermind that just happened.

OK, We have a Congress to oversee the production of our nations currency and to see that it is always coined in gold and silver ONLY and that the major banking institutions to not get controll of the issuance of said currency.

Wait....fuck nevermind.

I have a friend that works for the Dept. of Interior. Makes six figures and one week was so slow, he spent most of the days on ebay. No college education and he will retire in his mid 50's with close to a six figure retirement and generous health benefits. I have other stories like this.

Advice to the RPF's punks, sell out and get a government job.

jk, the government will be bankrupt by then.

Actually it already is...

Hmmm...what if you...errrr...already worked for the gov when the campaign started. And what if you just happened to be on this thread while at that job, reading about other government workers slacking off on the job....that would be very weird and ironic.

..please don't kill me.... :(

I don't fault anyone, just do the best you can under whatever circumstances you find yourself.

If our State representatives aren't doing this:

http://fourwinds10.com/resources/uploads/image/42984.jpg

then they are probably doing this:

YouTube - Government Officials Voting Fraudulently: Lawmakers Breaking the Law - Texas Legislature (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hfhO38CPlAI)

It's all just a game to them.

That video of the Texas voting thing is insane!

The question I must ask is if voting by proxy is allowed or not.
