Kludge was kind enough to give me a link to a Stossel special that I've been wanting to see for a while. It's called Are We Scaring Ourselves to Death?:

I bring this up because this was the first special Stossel did after he moved to ABC, and since he's moving to FOX it's only fitting. :D

But also because he does a section on how kids are the victims of media scaring us. I've talked to parents and non-parents about maybe letting kids go trick-or-treating on their own--just like my dad did. They all are terrified of the idea! I've seen kids talk about how their parents won't let them go to the lake. The kids say they'd be kidnapped, and then they talk about some escaped convict driving around snatching kids. WTF?? Kidnappers have become the new boogie man! The saddest part is that adults are just as duped. :(

Voted yes but depends on age. Of course what wasnt asked was my age. I like to go with the kids just because I like trick or treating.

Of course if I had a four year old and took him to a neighborhood that totally got in the spirit of halloween, I'd have to drive. I'd probably try to accompany them as long as I could get away with it.

Haha yeah my brother is 21 and he invited me to go trick or treating with him. It would be the first time I've done that in a decade!! I was like "awesome! But we can't get away with it unless we bring a kid. Otherwise it's creepy...and not in the fun halloween way." :p

We've got 2 recruits already. The son of a friend and another kid. Both are twelve. I've decided I'm NOT going to take candy. That would take it too far! But I'll just eat what's left over at my house. :D
