NASHUA, N.H. - Former New Hampshire Attorney General Kelly Ayotte is officially entering the U.S. Senate race for 2010.

Ayotte, a Republican, is announcing her candidacy in Nashua on Saturday afternoon to replace Republican U.S. Sen. Judd Gregg, who is not seeking re-election. She resigned as attorney general in July to explore a run for the position.

Ayotte says her basic platform boils down to traditional conservative ideas — smaller government, less spending, fiscal responsibility.

Ayotte is making her announcement at 2 p.m. at the school she attended as a child — Bicentennial Elementary School.

My guess is that she isn't as conservative as she's letting herself on to be. But, she'll be going up against liberal Rep. Paul Hodes so I suppose I'll have to support her.
