'Die quickly' congressman creates namesofthedead.com; GOP cries foul
By Jordan Fabian and Molly Hooper - 10/21/09 02:53 PM ET

Republicans charged Rep. Alan Grayson (D-Fla.) with breaking House ethics rules and election law Wednesday by linking a new political website to his official website.

The new site, www.namesofthedead.com, seizes on Grayson’s comment on the House floor that the Republican healthcare plan is for people to “die quickly.” It invites visitors to log-in the names and stories of friends and relatives who died because they lacked health insurance.

Washington (AP) - A Florida congressman has responded to complaints he violated House rules by amending a Web site he created this week calling attention to people who die without health coverage.

Rep. Alan Grayson removed a link from the "Names of the Dead" site Thursday that had directed people to his campaign Web site. The National Republican Congressional Committee argued the link violated House rules and possibly campaign finance laws regulating how lawmakers promote their campaigns. Andy Sere, a spokesman for the group, said Grayson is using it to draw attention to himself.

Grayson is asking people to post names of loved ones who died for lack of insurance. The Orlando Democrat, who said recently that Republicans want sick people to "die quickly," said the GOP is trying to avoid the subject of the uninsured by claiming rules violations.

Patricia Sullivan, a Republican challenging Grayson, said she plans to file an ethics complaint against him over the matter.

They're dead because of the high cost of health insurance and the health insurance monopoly on the health care delivery system. A free market would make most preventative care cheap enough for any working person to afford it. High cost conditions would be expensive, but not as outrageously expensive as they are now. Then everyone could at least get a loan for medical care who happened to get a rare and serious condition. Those with enough disposable income could choose more expensive insurance that would cover those rare and serious life threatening conditions such as many cancers.

It's hard to not find Grayson sympathetic though, since his heart seems in the right place, which makes him a distinct minority in his party, imo.

He's an idiot on health care, but we need him in Congress to grill Bernanke.

Nope, Don't need him at all. Bernanke doesn't need to be grilled anymore. All that needs to happen is Frank to let the full house vote on it.
Grayson needs to go.
He is an idiot on a lot more than health care.

He really is. He's loud and brash, but not terribly bright. Even after his first go-round with the Fed, anti-Fed people on economic forums were remarking about how little sense Grayson actually made to anybody who understood financial statements.

Sounds like a good site to start putting in the names of everyone who died in Canada, the UK, France, Italy, etc. from the lack of health care... you get the point.
