I just missed it, I guess. I just flipped over and they were talking about Rudy but on the bottom of the screen it said "who will breakout" or something...

One of the guys, used to be on Crossfire I think his first name is Paul, just mentioned that Ron Paul was actually right in the last debate.

Yup I heard it, the one strategist basically said Paul was a nonfactor that had no chance besides giving the top tier some points to score off of. The other one pointed out that the facts and former CIA agents back what Paul says.

There are many things Ron Paul could say that would easily deflect any attack.

He could simply ask any other candidate if they believe in the Constitution of the United States of America, and just wait.

Most of those guys will be caught like a deer in the headlights by that question, because they know their records with regard to backing the Constitution would look like crap compared to Dr. Paul's.

I bet Mitt gets the first question on immigration When Ron has the best plan on immigration even better than Tancredo

How can any news station say anything about John McCain when anyone can listen to the guy talk and tell he belongs in a straight jacket

I like CNN's approach to this debate. They're really integrating the internet big time into it, very smart and a great benefit for Ron Paul. With all these different "pipes" going in real time, it will add a variety of perspectives.

Also, I'm watching the special coverage, and someone submitted a question to "Your Voice" that was read aloud asking Ron Paul if he would pull out the troops in Iraq and put them on the U.S. border. Even if the question is fluff, it still puts Ron's name out there.

Debate starts in 30 minutes.

Q for romney: Was Iraq a mistake?

Non sequitur... had saddam allowed UN investigators in, and we knew that there were no WMDs, we wouldn't be having this conversation. We did the right thing based on what we knew at the time.

same to giuliani: it was absolutely the right decision. You can't see iraq in a vacuum. it's a part of the larger terrorist war on the USA. yadda yadda yadda play for emotions

vertesc
06-05-2007, 05:10 PM
They're all saying the same thing... it was the right decision. It was a good decision at the time, and badly mismanaged after we went in.

They're asking if people read the intelligence estimate before authorizing war with Iraq. McCain and Brownback said they didn't read that particular one.

next question: is it a bad thing that senators never read the intelligence estimate bofere sending our people in?

Q for McCain - if it turns out that the surge doesn't work, what then?

he plays first for the emotion - I knew someone who died there. But I think this strategy need to be given a chance to succeed. I am convinced that if we fail and withdraw, they will follow us home, and it will become a base for al quaeda... etc etc

he's retorting to Hillary's comment that this is "bush's war". This is not a president's war, it is the nation's war to win or lose. (audience applauds)

lbrtylvr
06-05-2007, 05:13 PM
so they ask the front runners a question they don't answer it and make a long speech. then they get they get asked the same question and therefore get twice the time.

blitzer is keeping the debate moving. No one has mentioned Paul yet. But we have another warmongering audience here!

Same question to Tommy... says the first thing to do is force a referendum in Iraq on US involvement. then divide iraq into states by geography, then divide up oil proceeds.

to Hunter: how much longer should we stay if it doesn't work? This depends on reliable iraqi forces. A lot of them are already into the fight, we get more of them into the fight, and rotate out our forces.

Same question to Paul. The sooner we come home, the better. it was a mistake to go, it's a mistake to stay. if you make the wrong diagnosis, change the treatment! (audience applauds)

Tom Tancredo: if the surge doesn't work, we have to tell the iraqis the same thing franklin said. " i have given you a republic, if you can keep it."
What a turn around!

for brownback: bush has said that states that sponsor terrorists are no different from terrorists. Hae we made a good choice in talking to Iran about the situation in Iraq and afghanistan.
he says it was a good thing to say, and it was a good thing to talk to them when situation demanded it. They are the lead terror sponsoring state in the world, and... you know what, this is well worn old hat response.
