$1 is what Im setting my sights on. Then, when the real number comes out, and its 5 million times that amount, I will just be that much more excited.

Some guy on the Dailypaul forum said he called the campaign and they said it would be released today. But that's just a secondhand rumor; don't count on it.

Before $500 challenge brought in $1.2 million, campaign said it would raise more in third than in second quarter.

Second quarter raised $2.4 million, I believe, so we raised at least $3.6 million in the third quarter.

I really hope we can top McCain's $5 million number.

I don't know.. but I just got a call from the campaign saying I'd overdonated. Doh.

Looks like they're working on balancing things now.

From MSNBC:

From NBC’s Carrie Dann
Dark-horse Republican candidate Ron Paul will report third quarter fundraising totals that exceed his $2.4 million take in Q2. According to communications director Jesse Benton, Paul raised $1.2 million alone in the last week during a down-to-the-wire online fundraising drive. The announcement comes after last week's New Hampshire trip for Rep. Paul, which included a rally attended by about 800 people and a major canvassing drive in the Granite State. The Ron Paul campaign expects to report its final third-quarter numbers later this week.

How do they handle checks that are mailed in?

Do they just wait a while and see what comes in (making sure that the checks were sent before the end of the quarter)? I mean, I assume that checks mailed before the end of the quarter (but that arrive after the end of the quarter) still count towards the 3rd quarter totals...right?

They're probably working on the numbers and maybe it's a strategic move not to announce them today. A lot of other candidates did and if Dr. Paul has one of the big guys beat then maybe he wants to wait so he'll get more of the spotlight. Or what little spotlight they do give him. If he released them today with everyone else, then he might get overshadowed by Obama or Romney. As Bradley in DC said in another thread, "Patience is a virtue." And you can't legislate virtue.

No, we don't know that. We know that WITH the online fundraising drive that they brought in more 3rd Q than 2nd Q.

I'm not absolutely positive, but no. The checks have to be entered in the database, checked (over-donations, legality, not a corporation, etc.), depositing AND CLEARED by the deadline in order to count.
