"no one saw what happened because they were in a closed room"

so, who stabbed the officer, the student or did the officer stab himself?

EDIT: The kid was autistic/disabled?!?!

No.

The levels of force used by law enforcement are intended to always be one level higher than the person they are attempting to stop.

Excessive force would be responding with a force higher than necessary.

As soon as someone shows Opportunity/Capability/Intent to seriously harm or kill someone, deadly force is authorized.

Stabbing someone repeatedly would count as a situation where deadly force is authorized.

While I personally have issues with police overstepping their bounds, if the circumstances are as the officer claims, then he was justified. It is the duty of the police to enforce the law. They need to be able to subdue a criminal.

Law Enforcement isn't supposed to be barbaric force. In the same way one should punish any officer who abuses their authority, one should not expect an officer to have "fair fights" with people. Both reasons stem from the duty of the officer, not to be a fighter, but one who can return order.
