John Dennis seems to be a really good candidate, and he's running against Nancy Pelosi in San Francisco. This is a long-shot, but who knows... Surprised I haven't seen anything about him here. Pass this along to anyone you know in SF...

From his website:

He is the head of the Campaign for Liberty San Francisco, founder of the San Francisco chapter of the Republican Liberty Caucus, an alternate on the San Francisco Republican Central Committee and a member of the board of the Republican Liberty Caucus California.

Can we defeat Nancy Pelosi?

Some of you folks need to realize that we can't win races just because 1) the incumbent is bad and/or 2) we have a good candidate.

You need to realize that a huge percentage of congressional districts are Gerrymandered (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerrymandering) into one party fiefdoms where the winner is pre-determined, and no opposition party candidate, no matter how good, will ever have a chance of winning.

Nancy Pelosi is in one of the safest districts in the country. The Republican Party could run a candidate who mixed all the best characteristics of Reagan, Gandhi, Einstein, Ron Paul, and Jesus Christ and would still get hammered in that district.

So the answer is "no, we can not defeat Nancy Pelosi."

Any money spent trying to do so would be effectively wasted.

I hate to sound bad but I think we need someone who is openly gay to run against Nancy

Justin Raimondo, the editorial director of http://www.antiwar.com ran for her seat and lost. He is openly gay.

It just comes down to gerrymandering, as mentioned above. It's the reason I wish B.J. Lawson would try any other district than the one he is running in.

Popular Cindy Sheehan attempted a run at Pelosi... not even close in 2008. When you have plenty of money... you own the greedy TV and Radio airwaves and of course the cash strapped print media.

Remember, there's no law against politicians and THEIR organizations paying the media for news coverage.

And I thought ThisNovember5th.com already had too many candidates running in hopeless causes before....

Another thing is that hardly anybody wins the first time they run. If Rainmondo ran against her over and over, he might make inroads.

And once in a while, even though it's extremely unlikely, things happen. Pelosi could get caught doing something scandalous, or even encounter a sudden medical issue ...and momentum can shift overnight. It's rare, but it does happen. That's why it's important to have a candidate in place.

Think for a second. A republican in San Francisco. Pelosi's republican opponent in 2008 got less than 10% of the vote, despite a lot of cash (http://wonkette.com/401320/nancy-pelosis-doomed-congressional-opponent-rakes-in-cash).

A person could run as the first openly gay, black Governor of Alabama on the green party ticket and stand about as much of a chance.

That SF nut will be a very tough one to crack prayers going out for all the ones fighting to crack it.

According to Open Secrets website she already has 800k to Dennis 0. In all honesty you need to have more name recognition and Pelosi will need to mess up really bad for him to even have a sliver of a shot. I heard him speak his heart is in the right place but needs some help.

Good luck to Mr. Dennis we are rooting for him.

Nancy Pelosi? No. But there is definitely a good chance to beat Harry Reid and send him packing.

Ironically, Nancy Pelosi is probably in one of the least gerrymandered districts. It's just San Francisco. No need to gerrymander in the immediate Bay Area, as they all go Democrat.

Yes, it's a super-longshot, just like Ron Paul for President. Though, in both cases, the Liberty message can be spread, and in that sense, it is worth it.

Should we money-bomb him until he has millions? No, that would be a waste. But he might get some free coverage since he is running against Pelosi...imagine just one televised debate...

Phil Dennis would be great if he won. The thing is he does not have a chance. We need to save the money we donate for people that do. Rand Paul and Peter Schiff come to mind.

They are great liberty candidates. We can still support all the liberty candidates out there, just not financially.

P.S. Peter Schiff needs to put more work into his web site.

That Republican is running again in the 2010 Primary against John Dennis. Check out her website. Is this Primary worth winning?:

The GOP primary for this seat is between John Dennis and Dana Walsh.

Here's Dana's take on the "war" on terrorism:

Winning the War on Terrorism

Nancy Pelosi is in denial about the threat Islamic Radicalism poses to America and other free societies. While she and her liberal colleagues take their eye off the ball, Americans become more at risk. As they waffle about Gitmo rush to extend Miranda rights to enemy combatants, and try to look good to the European Elite, our enemies become emboldened. The weak wishy washy approach will cost American lives.

We need to continue and win the War on Terrorism, not lose it in the backrooms of Washington, D.C..

Nancy's statements here reveal a general deference to the President and a general lack of understanding of issues relevant to the war on terror, and how to win it, and why winning it is important.

Witnessing Nancy Pelosi backpedal on Afghanistan policy and undermine the considered advice of generals on the ground leads NRCC to hope that McChrystal puts Pelosi in her place.

Yes.

Focus on her rich husband = how she got elelcted.

Ditto, Feinstein.

Ditto, Boxer.

Play up her VERY FIRST act as the newly elected Speaker of the House . . . PAR - TAAAY!

MILLIONS AND MILLIONS OF DOLLARS SPENT ON A CELEBRATION OF A MANDATE FROM THE PEOPLE. That was her very first standard-by-which-we-shall-be-known action.

Next came an increase in minimum wage. HOORAY for the lowest end. More money in the pockets of exploited in faraway lands and beleaguered Illegals here at home. Right On. EXCE-E-E-PT for Starkist Tuna, which would be exempt from the hike. Starkist Tuna bein' Nancy Pelosi's Numero Uno donor.

FOLLOW THE MONEY.

Especially with Feinstein. Her husband? Sheeesh. Wouldn't surprise me that Californians mounted a Recall Election, if they were bombarded with the details of OUR Lady Di's finances the way we are bombarded with the details of our celebrities' substance abuse problems.

Citizen Journalism, it's all the rage. Some Big Shots will be regretting those gazillions of cell phone cameras that have been foisted upon a gullible public, if the People know what's good for them.

Surveillance, like Fear, is a two-way street.

Track down her cosmetic surgeon. Comparison shop. Get a ballpark figure for what they're spending to keep their faces taut. Male Politicos are doin' it too, make no mistake.

Taxpayers will be PISSED, trust me.
