I'm trying to better understand the money aspect of the campaign, and wondering: is there a way to estimate the average operating expenses (as a percentage) for "mainstream" candidates like Rudy?
I've read about "paid volunteers", etc, and I wonder, for example, what is the average candidate cost for getting 1,000 signs put out in NH vs. Paul, assuming Paul's are done 100% by unpaid volunteers?
It may be wishful thinking on my part, but I could envision that in terms of available funds Paul could be financially competitive with only a significant percentage of total campaign funds provided he has, similarly, only a fraction of the mainstream candidates operating expenses.
(This is not meant to suggest that the race is only about $$ - I'm just trying to better understand that angle.)
