Americans are waking up and conservatives are on the march. It started with tea parties, it grew into town halls, and then we marched on Washington. Now it's time to consolidate our efforts, target our resources, and replace the failed leadership in Washington.

On Tuesday, November 3, 2009 — exactly 52 weeks before the 2010 mid-term elections — conservatives across the country will come together for this national strategy call to discuss concrete steps to take back our country. U.S. Senator Jim DeMint (R-SC), chairman of the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF), and Erick Erickson, editor of RedState.com, will lead the discussion.

Participants will get to learn which candidates are the true conservatives, ask questions about specific races, and find out what actions they can take to defeat the liberal politicians who are destroying our country. Participants will also get to vote for the candidates they like best using their telephone, and Senator DeMint will announce at least one major SCF endorsement at the end of the call.

This event will launch the formation of a committed conservative community that will work together win several critical 2010 Senate races. It will mark the beginning of a year-long movement to take back our country and save freedom in America.

Yeah, this conference call has been talked about a lot here recently.

Does the vote actually mean anything? Or is it just the bait to get people to sign up for the conference call so that they can try to get you to give them money?

I don't think there's any harm in joining the call. And I'm glad people are at least trying. But just don't get your hopes up too high. I'm skeptical that the results of this vote will make any difference on whom they ultimately end up endorsing.

If they endorse Paul, it stands to reason they will give him money as well as raise money on his behalf. Therefore, if you are maxed out on donating directly to the campaign, you could still donate to the PAC.

I always keep my hopes up. They endorsed Rubio over Crist, you know....

They endorsed Rubio over Crist, you know....

Yes. Rubio and Toomey are the two they've endorsed so far, and those two are both major big government moderate Republicans, which is why I don't have my hopes up. In fact Rubio is, if anything, more fiscally liberal than Crist. My guess is Demint went against Crist because of the nagging rumors of his being gay and Demint is one of the most outspoken people in wanting the GOP to keep its fight against the gay agenda at the forefront. Similarly with endorsing Toomey (which I'm guessing they did before Specter switched parties). Fiscally, Toomey is every bit as liberal as Specter, and probably moreso. But Specter's unforgivable sin in Demint's eyes is being pro-choice. I'm pro-life, so I don't disagree with Demint on that. But it just gives us an idea of where they're coming from.

I'm not saying it wouldn't be good if they endorse Rand. It would. And I'm not saying it's not worth trying whatever we can that would make that more likely. It is. But I just hope that people calling this conference call aren't imagining that the poll they take will matter and all we have to do is get a bunch of Rand supporters to call in and vote for him in that poll and it will help him get their endorsement. Just understand that the reason they're doing this conference call is not because they want our input, but because they want our money. It's essentially going to be an infomercial, and that phone poll is just the hook to get you to call.

I also wonder if it's a good idea for people to be suggesting both Rand and Schiff to them. Geting them to group those two together would work against Rand's chances if anything. Schiff, since he's a committed noninterventionist, against the drug war, and avowedly pro-choice, has no chance at all of getting their endorsement. Rand is pro-life and has avoided saying anything on the other issues that would be as much of a negative in their eyes as Schiff has. So he still does have at least a slim chance. And at the very least we can hope to help influence them not to endorse Grayson, which is the scenario I consider slightly more likely than them endorsing Rand.

.

I disagree. I've been on about 20 of these things so far, and they take questions from the callers.

Of course they're motivating their troops and trying to fundraise, but that's ok. That's why they win. We could stand to adopt a few of their techniques.

I'll be happy to tell him he won't get a dime as long as Lindsey Graham is potentially a recipient of the money.

Actually this makes me think. Should the Campaign for Liberty do a mass conference call like this, talking about issues to campaign on and taking concerns?

I got an e-mail from them today, and they asked us to vote for which candidate we'd prefer. i voted for Paul and surprisingly over 80% also voted for him. I expected to see a thread on this forum asking people to vote for him but nobody has made one. It's probably a good thing because the poll already looks to lopsided to be legit.

Keep in mind Chuck DeVore in California got 90% when they polled for him, so it may just be that true conservatives are simply paying more attention.

2010 Race Spotlight: KENTUCKY

KY FlagSenator Jim Bunning (R-KY) is retiring next year. There are several Republicans running, but the top two candidates on the right are Kentucky Secretary of State Trey Grayson and Rand Paul, an eye surgeon and son of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX). The Republican primary is May 18, 2010.

Grayson started the race as the frontrunner and has benefited from financial support from the Republican establishment in Washington. But Paul has been coming on strong and actually out-raised Grayson in the 3rd quarter of the year. Both candidates now have about $1 million cash on hand.

We need your help evaluating these two candidates and we want your input on the race. Please read our race spotlight and then vote in our online Kentucky Senate Poll.

Groups like this like to see numbers. They like to see support. I am going to vote now.

During Obama's health care speech, he said a public health care option "was a good idea when John McCain proposed it in the campaign, its a good idea now and we should all embrace it". Politicians are defecting from our principles and our party. This is pathetic.

We can either suffer 20 years of Democrat control or change course. We need someone like Rand Paul to stand up for us in Kentucky. He has a solid conservative message and is making people enthusiastic about Republican principles.

Required Which candidate do you support in the 2010 Kentucky Senate race?

Trey Grayson (R) - 22 - 14.4%
Rand Paul (R) - 127 - 83.5%
