This is an interesting speech by 1988 candidate Michael Dukakis about precinct based campaign organizing. This is how we need to start thinking folks.
Find out what congressional district you are in, organize around that. Then start drilling down to the individual precincts. Think, how can I reach the folks that vote at the same firehall that I do?. You are most effective when speaking to other in your area, 1 on 1. You are like them, have similar experiences as them and relate to them. Don't sit back and wait for TV commercials.
