Eastside pummeled; still awaiting help from government (http://www.samoanews.com/viewstory.php?storyid=9702&edition=1254823200)

They also said there was some looting in Tula, adding “we want to let all those looters who came into our homes and took our personal belongings know that they should be ashamed of themselves.”

Tula villagers say they have received help from Red Cross and the LDS Church but are awaiting government help. CBT also distributed water to the villagers last week.

Kudos to the Red Cross and Latter Day Saints for being on the ball.

I wonder why a mainstream media source hasn't picked up the story that the local Samoan journalist has and start asking hard questions of the Obama Administration? There is absolutely no reason why our country shouldn't have had all the resources necessary on the ground by this time. Our airlift and sealift capabilities can keep battalions supplied with water, shelter, and food for years on end in enemy territory but we can't do the same for a handful of islanders who also happen to be citizens?

Looting is actually the most despicable part. The territory has gun laws so restrictive that it is the envy of NY and Chicago. The administration obviously knew this but found it impossible to put some military police on transport and get boots on the ground in a matter of 12 hours?

I sense that fullest and finest of our response capabilities cannot really be measured until it is a handful of Uber Rich American or International Elite who are stranded. We'll bust some moves THEN, dontcha think?
