On the GOP side, the pressure is all on Secretary of State Trey Grayson (R). Physician Rand Paul (R) has successfully tapped into the internet fundraising base his father, Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas), inspired, meaning the younger Paul will have the resources to be a serious candidate. Grayson will need a strong quarter to prove he would be able to replenish his coffers for a general election after what is shaping up to be an expensive primary.

Grayson, what have you gotten yourself into? Going up against the Revolution was a bad idea...

The media seems to be slowly, grudgingly, accepting Rand as a real candidate - not a "dark horse" / "maverick" etc like thay called his father.

The longer the other candidates wait to announce their figures.....the more it seems likely that we blew them out of the water.

With that said, is there any auditing of number and when donations came in? Could a candidate "in theory" use the 15 days until the deadline of filing Oct 15th to sneak more 3rd quarter contributions in?

Yeah, but Grayson may want to avoid doing that, considering the recent snag he got himself by violating FEC rules with his secretarial campaign.

Sure there will be -- Charles will be responsible to ensure that Rand is elected fair-and-square. :)
