McCain's mission: A GOP makeover

Fresh from a humbling loss in last year’s presidential election, Sen. John McCain is working behind-the-scenes to reshape the Republican Party in his own center-right image.

McCain is recruiting candidates, raising money for them and hitting the campaign trail on their behalf. He’s taken sides in competitive House, Senate and gubernatorial primaries and introduced his preferred candidates to his top donors.

I was just reading about this on Reason. After losing to Obama, you heard a lot of talk from Republicans about how they had lost their way (Reagan's (supposedly) small government), but there was talk on the other side that the GOP lost b/c it wasn't inclusive enough (needs to move farther left). They'd be committing suicide (which would be just fine with me) if they went further to the left by allowing McCain to push his influence.

His idea of a makeover is to make the GOP what it already is and always has been.

Good! maybe McCain will fuck it up enough that everybody will quit saying "the only way we can accomplish anything is through the GOP"

Always the radical.

With Lindsay on his right side and Lieberman on his left side, McCain can accomplish anything he sets his mind to LOL

Lol yeah because so much more could be accomplished through the 1.5% of the vote the LP rakes in each election, and so much more could be accomplished through not even getting in debates. I mean just think of how much more Paul accomplished back when he did not work through the GOP, and how much less he accomplished once he did work through the GOP.

Don't you mean "left-center" image? Other than being a warmonger, which is only recently a Republican trait, the guy doesn't have a conservative bone in his body. He needs to do like his boyfriends Lieberman and Spector and stop trying to fool his party into believing he's actually one of them. When even "Republicans" are turning into liberals, socialists and commies, you know we're screwed.

You forgot his one other boyfriend, Lindsey.

This is further evidence that the GOP is just as bad as the Democrats.
