Of course my ownership of a gun makes me more safe. Anyone saying anything different is just not being honest.

A poll will reflect if someome FEELS safer owning guns. You would need statistics to show if you ARE safer owning a gun (ie are gun owners any more or less likely to be a victim of crime).

The question itself offends me. It's like asking , " Does free speech really make us safer??"

ask her - she had to take her gun from her attacker, but she was definately safer with it in her hands.

I get the sarcasm- but think about the logic of a person who would say that...
how fast can a cop get to your house?
How long will it take for the intruder to kill you?

Cops can't protect you. They are there to clean up the crime scene and to seek the perp. for a trial. Besides that- the cops duty consist of robbing people of money on the highways and protecting the state.
