Joe McCarthy has been vindicated.

To honor China's 60th anniversary of its fall to Communist Mao Tse Tung, the Empire State Building is being lit red and yellow!!!!!!!!!!!!....Never mind the fact this revolution led to the slaughter of 60 million to 100 million anti-communists!

What has happened to this country?? 60 years ago, the people were ready to lynch Harry Truman for losing China and firing MacArthur....Today, we celebrate the first triumph of communism in Asia????? An event which culminated in two disatrous wars against communists in Viet Nam and Korea....

Can you imagine New York lighting up the building in red to honor Hitler's birthday? Why not? Even if you believe the holocaust hype, Germany's body count comes nowhere close to China's......Ya think the Zionists who own NYC would appreciate that?.....amazing double standard.

THE LIGHTS OF THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING Visitors (http://everything2.com/title/tourist) and resident (http://everything2.com/title/resident)s of New York City (http://everything2.com/title/New+York+City) may notice that in the evening (http://everything2.com/title/evening), the top part of the Empire State Building is illuminated. The more observant (http://everything2.com/title/both+of+%2527em) among them may also notice that the color (http://everything2.com/title/color)s change depending on the day (Well, they used to, anyway; see below (http://everything2.com/title/see+below) for more details). These light pattern (http://everything2.com/title/pattern)s are used to celebrate different holidays and observances.

THE COLOR SCHEMES
The Director of Public Relations (http://everything2.com/title/Director+of+Public+Relations) (Lydia Ruth, as of this writing), chooses the colors for each event and when the building should be lit, with help from building management (http://everything2.com/title/building+management). As mentioned, there are over 30 color schemes used within the year, along with additional schemes for events that might happen (such as the national victory (http://everything2.com/title/national+victory) of a local team (http://everything2.com/title/probably+not+the+Mets), or other such wondrous events). There are three sections (http://everything2.com/title/sections) to the tower, each able to take one color. The schedule planned for 2002 was as follows:

The lights are also turned off during migrating season (http://everything2.com/title/rabbit+season%2521+duck+season%2521), so that birds won't fly into the building. Recently, the blue light (http://everything2.com/title/blue+light)s have been left on all night due to work being done in the area.
