So we get this call yesterday evening from a small town, an hour from Santa Fe, alerting us to a GOP meeting where one of the Gubernatorial candidates was the invited guest. The caller said we might want to attend. When we called the county chair today to get the details he seemed a bit miffed, but said of course we were welcome to attend. Turns out we caught him by surprise and he really was a decent guy, but on the way we made a strategic decision to go in low-key and not "upstage" the invited guest. We were pleasantly surprised when the Chair gave the two candidates equal time. The reason I am explaining this is so I don't get yelled at too badly :eek: for not getting out the video camera as I sat with the gubernatorial candidate during Adam's segment.
Anyway, Adam gave a standard 10 minute speech that showcased his grasp of economic issues, and absolutely nailed some tough "anti-war" questions in the Q&A. He succinctly articulated the Christian Just War Theory. He explained how our presence in Iraq was actually inhibiting the Iraqis from solidifying the rule of law. He talked of how War is a Racket that benefits profiteers and how most peoples views are influenced by a complicit media. He talked of the difference between non-interventionism and isolationism. He talked of subsidizing European towns with unnecessary bases. It was amazing watching peoples eyes being opened and when we left everyone had taken a bumper sticker and most had offered help and support.
